Joined Returners: Upon realizing the true nature of the Empire through his political dealings with them, and for a chance to receive justice for his father, who was assassinated by the Empire.
A Brief History: He was born and raised in Figaro Castle with his twin brother, Sabin. The two princes grew up surrounded by political intrigue and diplomatic dealings with the Empire. Edgar developed a fascination with machinery, which was the heart and soul of his home. He designed several "tools" which are better described as high-tech weaponry for use against the enemies of his kingdom. Upon their father's death by poisoning, Edgar and Sabin were forced to decide who would become king. Edgar convinced Sabin to decide with a coin toss using a two-headed coin. The winner would choose his fate - to be king, or not. He let Sabin win, knowing that his twin would choose to leave the castle to train for future vengeance. Edgar ascended the throne and lived a life of secret diplomacy, openly allying himself with the Empire while collaborating with the Returners behind closed doors. He was dragged into the direct conflict when Kefka set fire to Figaro Castle trying to kidnap Terra.
Strange little secrets: Edgar is a good all-purpose character, whom I almost always include in my adventuring party. He is both a skilled fighter and spellcaster, and his tools are incredibly useful, as well.
My favorite weapon for him: Aura Lance. It's just a really cool spear.
