Well since most people don't know about MoDo hockey.... Here is it all! MoDo has produced many Stars in the NHL such as: Peter Forsberg, Anders Kallur, Anders Hedberg, Thomas Jonsson, Lasse Lindgren, Lars Mohlin, Markus Naslund, Niklas Sundstrom, and my fav. Anders Eriksson! Fast Facts: MoDo comes from THE BIg factory in Ornskoldsvik. This factory is also called MoDo. It is a paper industry. MoDo has two great prospects named Henrik and Daniel Sedin. They are TWINS! Most likely they will go number 1 ranked and number 2 ranked in the 1999 draft. Anders Eriksson studied Economics with Anders Soderberg and Martin Sedin(no relation to the Sedin twins). Here's some things on some good players from MoDo. Anders Eriksson: He was born in January 1975, in Bollnas Sweden. He moved to Ornskoldsvik and played with MoDo at just 16. The year before this he had been selected as the best Defenseman in a National Tournament for players under 15. His older brother, Jorgan Eriksson played with the MoDo elite team while Anders was doing this. Anders played his first season with the elite team in 92/93. He was drafted by my Red Wings in 1993. Although he is in Adirondack he's still loved here! He is injured right now unfortunatly. :( Sedin Twins: They're expected to go respectedly at 1 and 2 in the draft of 1999. They are wearing jersey numbers 9 and 10, on the MoDo junior team. Someone told me it's next to impossible to tell which is which. Last year they won the Swedish Championship for teams over under 16 and under 18. Well here are some things that people have said about these two players: The lonliest man in the world must be Jorgen Roos- He is the third man on the Sedin Line. Or how about this one: I think they have dropped on earth just to play hockey--NHL SCOUT. Or this one: I have followed this tournament for many years and I haven't seen anything like this before. So my theme is MoDo sounds like fun! AIK One of two teams from Stockholm (the other is Djurgarden). The Globen Arena where AIK plays can hold 13, 850 people. Some of the great players from AIK are: Micheal Nylander, Mattias Norstrom, Niclas Sunblad, and Tomas Gradin. This is the team in which Borje Salming ended his long and illustrious career. Some of their great players this year are: Pavel Patera, Otakar Vejvoda, and Martin Prochazka. Also Pelle Lindbergh played there! Brynas Tigers Classic team in Sweden. Great team in the 60's and 70's they also won the Gold in 1993. But lost in 1995 in Sudden Death (what a way to go out!) NHL players from here: Andreas Dackell, Christer Olosson, Tomas Sandstrom!!, Fredrik Modin, and Mats Naslund.
Well heres another team that everyone should be aware of! Players! Goalies: Defenseman: Jarmo Myllys Jan Mertizig Erik Granqvist Torbjorn Lindberg Daniel Hedriksson Osmo Soutokorva Roger Akestrom Mattias Ohlund Stefan Jonsson Sergei Bautin ("Boom-Boom Bautin) John Wikstrom Forwards: Coaches: Joakim Backlund Lars Bergstrom Mikael Lindhom Thomas Backstrom Johan Rosen Alexander Vinogradov Fredrik Nilsson Mika Alatalo Fredrik Johansson Anders Burstrom Jokke Heinanen Stefan Nilsson ("skuggan" (means "shadow")) Tomas Berglund Robert Nordberg Johan Ohman Johan Stromwell Mikeal Lovgren Fast Facts about Lulea!: -Mattias Ohlund: many scouts think he's the best defenseman outside of the league. -Sergei Bautin the only enforcer in Elitserien. -Robert Nordberg he and two other players are in a rockband, He also wrote some poetry about hockey and other things. -Lulea hockey was formed in 1977, used to be GroKo hockey. - they won the Swedish playoffs in 1995-1996 season it was their first. -Philadelphia Great: Mikael Renberg played here when he was in Sweden! Like I say below GREAT PLAYERS! -One of my favorite Red Wings used to play for Lulea for 2 years that is Tomas Holmstrom! Great Players and great coaches make up this team! Djurgarden Lions This is the other team in Stockholm! Their 3rd straight Gold came in 1991 Some Stars from there are: Mats Sundin(nuff said!), Johan Garpenlov (the world according to Garp(enlov)), Tommy Albelin(who? Cup winners against MY wings!), and San Jose's Magnus Ragnarsson. Marcus Nilsson played there as well! HV Blue Bull: The WHAT? oh well I don't get it! hehe VERY YOUNG TEAM! They won gold in 1995 though! Johan Lindblom was big in Jonkoping (where?) HV hasn't produced a NHL player yet (their working on it give em' some time!) Johan Davidsson was a Mighty Quakers second pick in '94. Leksand Stars: Well i guess Sweden has their STARS too! Leksand has only about 10,000 people (Only! sheesh that's more than my hometown!) This is like hockeytown! You live and die hockey huge part o'life here! The Samuelsson's used to play here so did Stefan Bergqvist. Malmo Red Hawks Malmo we won't even get into! My page doesn't need to tell ANYTHING about them! (We'll just say the only people that like that team is people who live there!Because I haven't found any other Swede that will tell me ANYTHING about them!)
Magnus Lassi and Martin Sedin helped me with this page and for that I thank them! See the only team I knew SWEDEN had was MoDo until these two helped me make my little page on the Swedish Elite League. Anyone need to contact me...TOUGH! hehehe just kidding my e-mail is rjfisher@hotmail.com I can relay messages to my two experts at the top if you have any questions about Swedish hockey, I know I have plenty! hehehe Watch out Mag and Marty I got plenty! hehehe oh yeah and stats and pictures on these 2 is yet to come!
