Once upon a time there was a man that had a deep passion for beans but they always had an embarrassing and somewhat lively reaction on him.  One day he met a beautiful, sweet young lady and they fell in love.  Knowing the kind of person she was, he knew that he would have to take a vow to never eat beans again. They were married shortly thereafter.

On the way home from work one day his car broke down, so he called his wife and told her that he would be late because they lived a pretty good distance out of town and he'd have to walk. On his walk home he passed a cafe and the smell of freshly cooked beans was overwhelming.

Figuring that he would have plenty of time to walk off the effects of the beans, he decided to have some. By the time he had left he had eaten three large portions of the beans.  All the way home he would release his urges every few hundred feet and he was relatively sure by the time that he had reached his house that the ill effects of the beans were gone.

His wife met him at the door excited to see him, but somewhat upset that he had taken so long. She told him she had a big surprise for him and blindfolded him ,and led him to his chair at the head of the table. He seated himself, and just as she was going to take the blindfold off the phone rang.

She made him promise not to remove the blindfold.  She then went into the hall to answer the phone. The man decided to seize the opportunity while his wife was gone, so he lifted one leg and let go. He took his napkin off his plate and flung it wildly back and forth through the air to clear it.

A few minutes later the urge hit again so he lifted his other leg and let loose. This one was a real prize winner.  This went on for about ten more minutes and he could tell from the conversation on his end that it was about over.  So he placed the napkin on his lap and folded his hands on his plate and smiled.

When the wife returned he assured her that he had not peeked , so she removed the blindfold to reveal his surprise.  Twelve dinner guests seated around the table for his happy birthday dinner.
