The Mu Theta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., was chartered in 1991 at Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant Michigan. The first Soror who made Mu Theta possible was Kelly Fields. She was the first member of Sigma Gamma Rho at Central Michigan. She began to look for new members and found Deanne Craft-Saffold and she was the second member of the Mu Theta Chapter. She became a member in 1990. In 1991, Mu Theta initiated 3 new members, Kiersa Washington, Andrea Brooks, and Debra Pagel-Given. These 5 ladies of Mu Theta performed programs, community service projects and campus information to all students of Central Michgan. The chapter then dimished. In 1998, three young ladies showed interest in Sigma Gamma Rho and contacted the necessary individuals to restart the chapter. On May 4, 1998, the Mu Theta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., was reactivated by Patrice Lyons, Latrice Lyons, and LaNe' Williams.
