OFFICER DAMON FRANKLIN SMITH

Officer Damon Franklin Smith was shot and killed on April 15, 1996. Officer Damon Smith
responded to a domestic along with Chief Mike Boger. Officer Smith was shot once in the
chest with a 30-30 rifle. The bullet penetrated his vest. Chief Boger was also shot by
the man and was treated and released from a local hospital. Chief Boger was able to return
fire and wounded the man who has been charged with assault on a police officer and first
degree murder.
