THOMSON FAMILY
This cemetery is not easily seen from the road, as it is about 3/10 km north of the 6th concession of Lancaster on the Glen Nevis side road & about 4/10 km east, in the 2nd field under a big bass wood tree on a hill in a somewhat cludder of fieldstones. Whether this is the original store or not I do not know, but for some reason I remember a stone which had inscriptions of at least 2 sides if not 3, this impression could be wrong. The present stone, is well aged, about 3 ft square, made of field stone and what looks like possibly a cement toping in which the inscription was made. It is on the farm presently of S. & L. McDonald. According to the 1869 map the farm was owned by a Don Thomson, the east half of lot 16 6th concession of Lancaster and in about the middle of the farm.
The inscription is as follows;
IN MEMORY OF // JOHN THOMSON // DONALD THOMSON // ANN THOMSON // MRS. JANE T. MCDONALD // OF BRADALBANE SCOTLAND // CAME TO GLENGARRY CO. // 1848.
In the above, // indicates line breaks on the gravestone listed.
