Doors Albums: reviews and thoughts

Main Doors Page

Released:  January 1967
The first, and arguablly the best Doors album.
Morrsion is alleged to have trashed a harpsicord
brought on for this recording.
SONGS:  Break On Through;  Soul Kitchen;  The Crystal Ship;
Twentieth Century Fox;  Alabama Song; Light My Fire;
Back Door Man; I Looked At You; End Of The Night; Take It
As It Comes; The End.
Best songs are: Break On Through, Soul Kitchen, Light My Fire
Back Door Man & The End.
NOTES: I was disapointed in the first release
of the CD of this album. To my dismay, my copy
of "The Doors" sounded better on vinyl.
My record is one of the Master recordings, but still....
The CD available now is remastered by Paul Rothchild and
the surviving Doors.
I remember coming back from a Dead show
in the early '80's and listening to "The End"
on headphones while watching a black & white
Cream poster go 3D.......

Released 1967

The last album featuring Jim. Also, ranks as one of the better Doors albums. If you have a vinyl copy of this with all four corners shaved, clear plastic with the picture imposed on it, and a yellow inner sleeve, keep it! This is the original release! It will soon be worth big bucks!!!!!
A re-issue of the "Absolutlely Live" album, this CD offers twice the music the original album did. It combines the original album, "Alive She Cried," and "Live At The Hollywood Bowl" albums. Considering that the recordings for this were made by placing microphones in front of the speakers, the sound is amazingly good.
NOTES: The Dead Cats/Dead Rats thing is very cool. Also, the rap between Jim & the audience regarding astrology is nice.
