**The history of Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue Explorer Post 2000**

Greater Philadelphia Search and Rescue Explorer Post 2000 has had a short existence. Yet, in a little over one year, we have a handful of explorers who have trained to the point where they can respond with GPSAR to almost any emergency. Our primary goal is to support GPSAR in its mission and we have met that goal.

June 1998: The first Post meeting was held. It was more recruitment than anything else.

July 1998: The second post meeting was held, again it was mostly recruitment.

August 1998: GPSAR Explorer Post 2000's first offical meeting. The first line officers were voted in at this time. Also the post's birthday :)

November 1998: GPSAR Explorer Post's third recruitment meeting.

Jan-Feb 1999: Troubled times for the post, our first mission and first mock search all occur at this time.

March 1999: Mock search in Lorimer Park.

April-May 1999: Several Post members become FEMA certified and at the same time become members of GPSAR's CERT Task Force. Now the post can truly respond to all emergencies.

August 1999: Mock Search - Valley Forge NHP. The explorers learned Radio and command ops.

September 1999: Post is placed on Active stand-by for Hurricane Floyd. Explorer Post 2000 is disatpacthed with GPSAR for two searchs on the same weekend, Saturday was a search in Delaware County. Sunday's search was called off when the vicitm returned home alive and well. Had the search not been canceled, it would have taken place in Bucks County.

October: Mock Search: Lorimer Park, in Abington, Pa
