I really shouldn't be here. I am supposed to be getting ready for a wedding, but I really don't want to go to it. Oh well, we all have to do things we don't really want to.

I plan on getting to the Y this evening after this event. Hopefully I won't be too pooped to pop by then. Well, I lost a total of 3 pounds last month. Down from 230 to 227. I guess that's not too bad. Hoping to do better this month. Keep the faith ;)

Sorry it has been so long. Things here are just a little hectic. Joe graduates today at 1:00. To top matters off, the poor kid had to get a tetanus shot cause he got cut at work and now he is having a reaction to that. He has cold chills and is running a fever of 101 degrees. The doctor said that is normal and to take ibuprofen. I am upset that he feels to lousy on one of the biggest days of his life.

Thursday evening we went to an awards assembly where he got a Presidential Academic Award. He has a grade point average of 3.4something and is number 47 in his class. I am so proud of him as he is dislexic. He is also what they call an auditory learner, so I have read a lot of material to him so he can absorb it better. It is just easier for him to learn it that way.

I don't think I will get a chance to go to the Y this weekend as I just have so much to do. Today is graduation and tomorrow we are having a cookout for Joe with both sides of the family coming. The only uncle who won't be here is my brother who lives in Florida. They are coming up in July. It will be the first time we have seen him and his family since my mom died in September of 96. Keep the faith ;)

Only two more days of school for the kids. Then I have to work 3 days next week. I can hardly wait. We went in to the school Monday to find out the electricity had been off since sometime over the weekend. They decided they couldn't get it fixed Monday and sent the kids home at 11 because there was no air conditioning and it was a code red day and many of our kids are medically fragile; and also because there was no way to fix them lunch. We had to stay there, however. Then school was closed yesterday because the power was still off. Today we had school and got our power from generators. The same is planned for Thursday and Friday, depending on the weather. It is supposed to get real hot and humid again.

I exercised at the Y on Monday and plan on doing it again Tonight. I do about 60 minutes of cardio and 60 of weight lifting. I may even swim for a little bit tonight because Jai has driver's ed there tonight and it is a 3 hour class. Keep the faith ;)

Thurs, 22 Jun 00

Well, school is finally out for the summer for both students and teachers and instructional assistants. I made some major decisions and am only hoping things work out for the best.

I work as an instructional assistant in a multi-handicapped room at an elementary school. The woman I work with is a very mean-spirited person who treats the kids badly. She is very sarcastic with them and seems to have no compassion whatsoever. After two years of working with her, I can't take any more. I told the principal and assistant principal that I would not come back to work in August if they didn't move me out of that room. This woman needs a new assistant about every two years because no one can stand working with her. She didn't treat me too badly because I gave as good as I got. I am just tired of fighting her about the way she treats the kids. The worst part of it is, I sometimes find myself acting like her because her negative attitude rubs off on a person after constant exposure. It has affected my health and my family life. I just can't take it any more. I am hoping they think enough of me to keep me and change me to a different classroom. Only time will tell. Keep the faith ;)

Tues, 27 Jun 00

I can honestly say I have been doing absolutely nothing towards my weight loss this past week. I went to the Y last Wednesday evening and haven't been back since. I have just been lazing around enjoying not having to go to work every day. I will get back on track starting now. I have to take Jai and her friend Laura to the Y for driver's ed tonight and will stay and exercise while they are there. That will give me 3 hours.

Yobo and I are thinking of going away for a couple of days. It will be the first time we have been anywhere without the kids since our homeymoon almost 19 years ago. I can hardly wait. We were going to do it earlier this year, but I was having all the trouble with my gall bladder and had to cancel out. Hopefully nothing will happen this time to make us change our plans. Keep the faith ;)
