A great diet help

7/28 - Have had a pretty good day so far. Ate toast with 1 tbsp peanut butter and cantaloupe and honeydew for breakfast. Walked 3 miles with Denise and drank about 3 pints of water so far. This is the last day I will journal this month as we are going on vacation tomorow. We will be back Friday; but I probably won't get a chance to log again til Saturday. Keep the faith:)

7/27 - Well, we made it thru yesterday intact. Behaved myself pretty good at the cookout yesterday. Had one burger, some baked beans, cucumber and about 6 potato chips. Didn't even get out of bed til 11:00 this morning and fixed a big breakfast. Had bacon, eggs and toast. Not very good choices; but we only have that big breakfast one day a week. Guess that's all for now. Keep the faith:)

7/26 - Just another day of the same old thing. We are having dad over for a cook out to try to help him get thru the day. He got a big basket of flowers and put on mom's grave. They used to go out to dinner so that's why we decided to have him over here. Nothing much else to report. Weight the same I guess; didn't weigh this morning. Have done good on eating except for lunch. Went to the Charcoal Pit and had some fries. These are big fries that they cut from potatos right there in the place and deep fry. They are soooo delicious. I did manage to keep my consumption down to 5. My husband was impressed. Heck, even I was impressed. Keep the faith:)

7/25 - 220 - Yes, I did it. I don't know how it happened, but I'll take it. Have had trouble getting into Tripod. Waited 20 minutes the other day and it still wasn't finished loading; so I gave up. We finally got some much needed rain so I had to use my treadmill. Got to go back to the track this morning. Walked 3 miles. Have walked 45 miles so far this month. That is not much; but I lost 4 days when I cut my foot and could only handle about 1 miles for two days and then only 2 miles for a couple more before it started hurting too much. Youngest son started taking allergy shots yesterday. So far so good, but it was only the first shot. He has to go once a week for 3 months then goes twice a month for 3 years. Hopefully this will help his asthma. Gotta go, need to run the vacuum before we go out on the boat. Keep the faith:)

7/22 - 221 - Didn't quite make it back down to 220; but I can live with that. Have started putting water in a half gallon jug and freezing it. Then I add water to it the next day and drink til all the ice is melted and the water is gone. Then I make sure I drink all my water. That is in addition to the milk and occassional glass of tea I drink. Have been having a pretty stressful week so far. The 26th would have been my parent's 45 anniversary and Dad is having a hard time dealing with it. He keeps calling me and crying over the phone. I am just hanging on by a thread myself and just can't seem to gather up the strength to give him what he seems to need. (Heck, I'm not sure any of us kids can give him what he needs now.) I have been overeating as a result of this; but have kicked up my exercise to try to offset the eating. I can never seem to have the balance I need. Enough of this for now; will write again. Keep the faith:)

7/20 - Things here are in an uproar. My husband got caught for 24 hours overtime yesterday. That means he has been working since 8:00 Friday morning and won't get off til 8:00 tomorrow morning. He was allowed to come home for 1 1/2 hours yesterday morning to get a change of clothes. Actually he got to leave there at 8:00 and had to be back by 9:30, so he was only home about 45 minutes. I fixed him breakfast of eggs and bacon, coffee and toast and had it ready for him when he got home. His work schedule only allows him to be home either Saturday or Sunday of each weekend and that is the one day a week we have a big family breakfast. I miss him terribly. We will go cookout with him for supper this evening. Went to the pool and swam for 4 hours yesterday. Put on SPF 30 sun screen that is supposed to allow you to be in the sun without burning for 15 hours. I put it on twice and still got burned. This light complexion is a curse. However, I am not as burned as I would have been without sunscreen. Will weigh in again tomorrow and see if I have gotten back down to 220. Keep the faith:)

7/18 - Things are pretty much the same here. Trying to eat right and drink all my water. Took my 10 year old son to allergist yesterday. They stuck him 53 times on his back and 13 times in his right arm. He was real good and only said ouch once. He starts taking allergy shots next Thursday. He is allergic to some grasses and rag weed; also cats (we have 3) and dogs (we have 2). The doctor didn't go so far as to say get rid of them; but he wasn't real pleased. How can I tell my kids they have to get rid of their pets? Hopefully the shots will help. He will get one a week for the next 3 months and then one every month for the next 3 years. Seems like forever; but the doctor said he will gradually get better. Sure hope so. Well, that's all for today. Keep the faith:) Oh yeah, I walked/jogged 2 miles today. Didn't walk yesterday cause overslept and then ran all rest of the day doing errands and taking Tim to doctor.

7/16 - Today went pretty good until this afternoon. We went out on the boat and I took my apply for my snack. I had eaten my apple and then my son asked if he could feed some of the cheese nips to the ducks that always hang around the island where we dock. I made the fatal mistake of opening the bag for him and the next thing you know I had eaten a handful of the darn things. I really didn't want them, but they were in my hand and in my mouth before I knew what was happening. Other than that, things went pretty good. I walked for 2 miles this morning. Well, actually Denise and I have added a little jogging in with our walk. We walk on the high school track and we walk around the curves and then jog the straight stretch between the light poles. Our goal is to be able to jog an entire 1/4 mile lap without having to stop. We have cut our walking down to 2 miles because it is just so darn hot and humid here now. It was even stifling on the boat; we couldn't wait to get in the water. Between walking 2 miles and swimming 4 hours, my butt is dragging. I am real tired but I feel really good. Maybe it is all the exercise. A real natural high that I just love. Keep the faith:)

7/15 - Things here are pretty much the same. Went to the doctor's yesterday to pick up a referral for my son. Used the scales to weigh myself and according to their scales I have lost 3 pounds since I cut my foot. That is still 4 more than I weighed at the beginning of June. I can't seem to got off the rollercoaster. Keep loosing and gaining the same 7 pounds. I am determined to be 10 pounds thinner when I go back to work. Better get my butt in gear. Have already walked this morning. Only walked 2 miles tho because it is just so hot and humid. I drank half my quart of water and poured the other half over my head. Didn't make me any wetter than I already was; but sure did help cool me off. Have done pretty good with my eating. When we go out on the boat I take apples to munch on. The kids still want the crackers and chips and junk like that. I also take along my water and drink that instead of soda. Maybe all of this is starting to add up and seems to be coming second nature to me. I can only hope. Keep the faith:)

7/12 - Things here are pretty much the same. I had a terrible day yesterday. Got those PMS munchies and must have eaten everything that wasn't nailed. Granted most of it was fruit and carrots, but I still went over my calorie limit. Luckily I stayed within my fat limit. Today has been better. Had a light breakfast and light lunch. Dinner will be low-fat. My kids have resigned themselves to eating healthy and have discovered that it isn't too bad. My 15 year old is the worst; but he is coming around. Of course, he would rather had a cheeseburger than any fruit or veggies. Keep the faith:)

7/10 - Well, I had to dump Dietwatch Diary until my husband upgrades the computer. It was just too much and kept kicking me out. Now I am back to keeping track of everything by hand. Just as I was getting really spoiled, too. Other than that, things are pretty much the same. Have decided to up my calorie intake to what dietwatch said I should be eating though. Maybe I haven't been eating enough. (That sounds really weird from someone who is trying to loose weight.) Walked Tuesday and again today. Yesterday it was so hot and humid that I did a Richard Simmons tape instead. Just about killed me. Of course, my kids were still in bed and my husband had already gone to work while this was going on. Do you know it is hard to do aerobics on a really thick carpet? You feet don't slide very easily when you want them to. Gotta go, my husband is hollering for lunch. Guess it is that time; it's after 12:30 already. My does time fly when you are doing fun things like vacuuming and laundry. Keep the faith:)

7/7 - Nothing much to report. Things are pretty much the same here. I did walk today; but could only do about 1 1/2 miles before my heel started bothering me too much. That brings me up to a grand total of only 7 1/2 miles for the month. I usually walk 3 miles each morning; sometimes 4 if my friend doesn't walk with me. Oh well, this too shall pass. According to Dietwatch Diary I have been doing good with calorie and fat consumption. Get smiley faces for calorie count; but have gotten a couple of low arrow for fat. Isn't that a good thing? Also need to work on iron. Keep the faith:)

7/5 - I feel pretty good today. We went to Bel Air's parade and fireworks yesterday. Left home at 5:30 and didn't get home til 11:30. We took all kinds of snacks and I didn't eat any of them. We did eat out and I got a crab cake sub (can you tell I like them)...but these people wouldn't bake the crab cakes so they were fried. Not a real good choice, I know, but I did pass up on the potato chips so I feel good about that. We had to walk about 1/2 mile to the fireworks and my foot was killing me by the time we got there. Then we had to walk back to the van afterwards. I'm paying for it today. Tonight we will go out on the boat and watch Havre de Grace's fireworks from the bay. This is a first and I can hardly wait. I'm as excited as the kids. Tonight I will take healthy snacks like apples, baby carrots and radishes. Of course, I will take some other snacks for the kids and other people with us. See you tomorrow. Keep the faith:)

7/4/97 - INDEPENDENCE DAY - Not much to report. I have been doing pretty good with my water and calorie consumption. Downloaded Dietwatch Diary and absolutely love it. I had some other software that did pretty much the same thing...but this is much more user friendly. I took the treadmill challenge and right away put myself out of commission for 4 days. I cut my heel working in my flower bed Thursday evening. Should have had stitches, but I didn't realize it was that bad until I got up yesterday morning and it broke open and bled as soon as I walked on it. Went to the doctor but it was too late to stitch it. He gave me antibiotics to take for 5 days and also a tetanus shot because I hadn't had one in 11 years. Now my arm hurts worse than my heel. I can't do my walking until Monday. Can't even swim because we swim in the river and he didn't think that was such a good idea. What a drag....he took away everything I like to do for fun. He also gave me a lecture on walking around outside in my bare feet. Guess that all for now. Will log again tomorrow. Keep the faith:)
