MY JANUARY JOURNAL

1/30/99 - My dad finally went to the dr. today. He wanted to put dad in the hospital, but you guessed it, Dad refused. He did go get a chest x-ray. The dr. renewed his antibiotic and gave him more cough medicine with an expectorant in it.

I woke up this morning with my back so sore I could hardly get out of bed. It was fine last night. It is so far down, it is really my tail bone that hurts. I don't understand how I can go to bed fine and wake up so daggone sore. I am going to close now as sitting here is hurting pretty bad. Keep the faith ;)

1/28/99 - Sorry it has been so long since I have updated. I have been pretty busy with my dad. He has had pneumonia and refused to go into the hospital. I was working all day, going over his house after work and taking care of him and then coming home and fixing dinner and doing mom stuff. He goes to the doctor on Saturday and I just plain out told my sister she would have to take him. I am just too tired. Now the virus has hit my house. Jai is home with a 102 degree fever. I also broke my pinky toe the other morning and it hurts like heck. I can't even go for a walk to relieve the stress because my damn toe hurts to durn much. I haven't even had a chance to go to WW and see how I am doing. Hopefully I can get back on track this week. Keep the faith ;)
1/17/99 - I couldn't get into Tripod yesterday to update. Finally got in today after about 4 tries. I got some of the WW chocolate brownie ice cream thingies. I never thought I would be saying this, but it was just a little too chocolatey for me. I didn't get any formal exercise done yesterday, but did go up and down the stairs a lot of times doing laundry and cleaning. I also just ran up and down about 15 times just for the exercise. Today I took Buster for a long walk through the woods. We were gone about 30 minutes; but it seemed more like an hour because Buster kept pulling against his leash. He took me though every little tow path he could find. Hope everyone has a nice holiday tomorrow. Keep the faith ;)
1/15/99 - Only 15 days into the new year, and already we have used 3 snow days. Out driveway finally thawed out enough for me to get out around 3:00 this afternoon. Just in time for Timothy and I to go to the doctor's. The kids and I are really enjoying these days off; however, we will be complaining when we have to make the days up later. I did well on my plan today. Ate within my points, got some exercise, and drank plenty of water. It is supposed to be in the 50s tomorrow and Sunday. Yobo already said he will go for a walk with me. Maybe I can talk him into both days. He has off til Tuesday cause it is his 4-day weekend. We have off Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. day. We never have off all four days with him unless it is during the summer. This is kinda special. Keep the faith ;)
1/14/99 - What a crappy day here in MD. We have had sleet and freezing rain all day. Schools were closed again. They are saying it will warm up overnight into the 40s and thaw all this stuff. We will just have to wait and see. I can't see how all this will be gone so we can go to school tomorrow. The kids have had a ball out sledding. I begged off today. My back is still bothering me from last Friday. Haven't had a very good job eating-wise today. Have had real carb cravings. I am supposed to start my period next week. I have danced around the living room and done some Tai Chi today. Hopefully that will help offset some of my eating. Keep the faith ;)
1/13/99 - 232.2 - Down 4.2 pounds since last week. My friend Denise went with me and joined tonight. I think it will be neat having someone else going with me and comparing notes. There are several women down at the school doing WW, but we don't go to the same meetings, and besides, Denise is my best friend. We go back 10 years.

They are calling for sleet, snow and freezing rain all day tomorrow. Looks like we may have another snow day off from school. Just another one to make up at the end of the year. Keep the faith ;)

1/12/99 - I couldn't get near the computer to update last night. Someone (read my husband) hogged the computer all night. The weather here is so screwy. Yesterday it didn't get above freezing. Today it was in the 50s. They are calling for snow again on Thursday. It still can't seem to make up it's mind. I go to Weight Watchers tomorrow night. Will let you know how I did. Keep the faith ;)
1/10/99 - Oh my Gawd!!!! My arms are so sore from all that shoveling. It doesn't seem to matter how many weights you lift, it just doesn't prepare you for an hour of shoveling snow. I went for a short walk today. It was short because it is so daggone cold here. It never made it out of the 20s today. Have eaten within my point spread today. Could have drank more water, but the day isn't over yet. Keep the faith ;)
1/9/99 - I got my share of exercise early this morning. I had to go shovel the driveway (again) so Yobo could get in from work. I shoveled from 7:50 til 9:00. The temperature is about 35 degrees now. Things are starting to melt a little. The main problem is that we share a common driveway with two other families. In the 17 years I have lived here, no one from the duplex has ever come out and helped shovel the driveway. Actually, we have a right-of-way through the parking lot that is in front of our house. I shoveled at the end of the driveway where they had run through and made ruts that were frozen. Then I shoveled out our part of the driveway. Their part where they have to walk across to their cars is all frozen. We keep calling the guy who owns the duplex and reminding him that it is his responsiblity to keep that area clear for us, but he doesn't seem to get the message. He lives in another town and hardly ever comes down to see how things are going. Guess he doesn't care because he doesn't live here.

Just remembered this is supposed to be a journal where I report my progress on my weight loss. Well, I have eaten within my points for the last few days. Just got done eating breakfast at 12:00. By the time I got done shoveling and had a shower and then fixed breakfast, it was kinda late. The kids are cleaning the upstairs now, then I have to get the livingroom cleaned. Keep the faith ;)

1/8/99 - It is a beautiful, cold day here in Maryland. We have gotten six inches of snow and now it is freezing rain. It is supposed to warm up and turn to rain and be 50 degrees tomorrow. Oh well, you know what they say about MD weather: "If you don't like it, just hang around about 5 minutes and it will change." It sure has been that way the last few months. It has been 60 - 70 degrees and then the next day in the 30s to 40s. Now it is in the 20s today and will be 50 tomorrow. It snowed last Saturday and then was 50 degrees last Sunday. It is this kind of weather that affects Timothy's asthma so bad. So far, he is holding his own. I have been on track real well the last two days. Hopefully it will show in the scales when I go to WW next Wednesday. I got plenty of exercise today out sledding with the kids, having a snowball battle and shoveling out the driveway. I wonder how that adds up. I sure did work up a sweat and had a lot of fun in the bargain. Oh well, gotta go fix supper. Keep the faith ;)
1/7/99 - I'm not going to write much tonight. I had a horrible day at work and have a terrific headache to show for it. I still have 7 points left to eat on my Weight Watchers plan. I don't really have to eat them because I have met the minimum for the day. The way I feel now, I will just let them go. Haven't gotten any exercise because just walking makes my head hurt worse. I am on a team with Debbie, Kim and Kerry. We are the Divine Divas. Keep the faith ;)
1/6/99 - 236.4 - Well, I gained 5.4 pounds over the Christmas holidays. Most of that came from drinking to much soda. I have gotten right back on the band wagon as of Monday and have been eating well within my point range. Hopefully those pounds will be gone next week.

I am on a new team along with Debbie, Kim and Kerry. We haven't decided on a name for our team yet. Keep the faith ;)

1/5/99 - As I thought, I was too late to walk when I got home tonight. It is also to cold and windy. I walked yesterday when it was a little warmer and spent the whole night coughing after that. Every time I go out when it is too cold, I cough and hack the rest of the day. Guess maybe my body is trying to tell me something. I did get some exercise in, though. Danced around the livingroom with Jai and did some weights. Keep the faith ;)
1/4/99 - I survived my first day back at work. I sure didn't miss changing those diapers while school was out. We just got done taking down all of our Christmas decorations. Now we only have to take down the outside lights and cart all the stuff up to the attic.

I have done pretty good with my dieting today. Stayed within the points of Weight Watchers and even went for a mile walk right after I got home from work. I will see how much I weigh on Wednesday. I am bracing myself for a gain. Keep the faith ;)

1/3/99 - What a difference a day makes. It was in the teens yesterday with snow and last night we had freezing rain. Woke up this morning and it was fifty and raining. Then the sun came out. Yobo and I went for a 50 minute walk this afternoon. It was nice, just him and me, no kids. Now according to my WW plan, that extra 30 minutes would equal an extra point and a half. That way I could eat more, but I am not going to add them. I will just stick with the points I have left for dinner. That way it just contributes to my weight loss. I am going to start going for a mile walk each day right after work when I can. I won't be able to this Tues because I have to take Timothy to the dr again for a recheck on his asthma and to see if he can continue with his allergy shots again. By the time we get done there, it will be dark. I guess I will have to run up and down the stairs for exercise. Keep the faith ;)
1/2/99 - Not sure how much I weigh. I will go to Weight Watchers on Wednesday and find out. My pants don't feel tight, so maybe I stayed the same. We had some snow this morning. Timothy is much happier this time because he is allowed to go out and sled this time. They are calling for an ice storm tomorrow. I hope it doesn't get to bad. The kids all want an extra day tacked on to our Christmas vacation. That just means we will have to make it up in June. Have done very good on my eating today. Have stayed well within my point range. Keep the faith ;)
1/1/99 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Had a great New Year's Eve. We went over to Yobo's sister's. I forgot my water and ended up drinking two glasses of tea. I had one sandwich and one meatball. Had plenty of fresh veggies and a lot of the fruit I took over. All-in-all not too bad an evening. We got home around 2:30 this morning. Now to get back to work and start this year off right. Everyone else is still sleeping, so I may just sneak off for a walk. Keep the faith ;)
