11/3/99 Well, I survived yesterday. It would have been my mom's 74th birthday. I cried a little bit, but I made it through. Have been having a hard time with my eating lately. I have been pretty depressed and I just can't seem to get things together. I am going to try to call Jabbers later on and see how she is doing. Keep the faith ;)
11/5/99 I had the most wonderful day today. We took the kids from our classroom horseback riding. We went to a farm where the owner has a masters degree in therapeutic riding. It was so great to see the kids on those horses. One of the kids has cerebral palsy and his arms and legs are always drawn up tight. It was something else to see how riding on that horse with someone holding him just relaxed him. When we got done, his arms and legs were straightened out. I was what they call a sidewalker. I walked alongside the horse to make sure neither one of the riders fell off. Some kids ride by themselves with one or two sidewalkers and a leader. Some of them had to have someone hold them on the horse with two sidewalkers and a leader. The paddock where we walked the kids had sand in it. It was like walking on the beach for 2 1/2 hours. My legs will really feel it tomorrow.

I had done pretty good with my eating lately. Had baked fish last night and baked chicken tonight. Got plenty of exercise today. Will try to get my friend to go for a walk with me tomorrow. If not, maybe Jai will run while I walk. Keep the faith ;)

11/9/99 I haven't gotten much exercise in. Have been hacking and coughing since Saturday night. Just going to work and getting home without collapsing has been a chore these last two days. On the up side, I haven't felt much like eating and have been drinking plenty of water. I haven't gone near a scale, so I'm not sure what I weigh. Maybe next week when I feel better.

We had a nice weekend. The Pride of Baltimore II was in Havre de Grace this weekend. We went over and checked it out. It was pretty interesting. I posted pictures and you can visit them here Pride II.

11/11/99 My sister-in-law had a little girl at 1:15 this afternoon. Her name is Samantha Marie and she weighs 4 lbs, 14 ozs. This is my husband's sister. It was his brother who lost a baby girl in October of last year.

They were a little surprised that the baby was so small. According to the sonogram the baby was between 6 and 7 pounds. The baby's blood sugar is a little low and they may have to give her formula. They will be in the hospital about 2 days before going home. Things really have changed since I had my kids. Now they even let the father stay in the room with the mother and baby. Will keep you posted on how things go. Keep the faith ;)

11/13/99 Yobo and the kids went over to see Susan's baby. He took the digital camera and got some pictures of her. She looks like her daddy. You can see the family here They hope to be able to go home today. I haven't gone over to see her as I am working on a cold, sore throat and ear infection. Don't figure they need that stuff floating around.

The kids had off from school yesterday, but I still had to work. It was a professional day. Went to the Lighthouse Diner and had lunch. It was so huge, I brought over half of it home. Then Joey was working and Jai and Tim went to the Harford Mall with their cousins. Yobo and I took that opportunity to sneak out to dinner by ourselves. I am proud to say I left food on my plate again. I am slowly learning to know when I am full and to stop eating then. Didn't have that uncomfortable full feeling after either meal. Now if only it would show on the scale. Keep the faith ;)

11/18/99 I saw Samantha on Sunday. She is so tiny. Jai held her and was amazed every time she moved. I told her even tiny babies move. (Can you tell she hasn't been around babies much?)

My Dad's birthday is on Saturday. He will be 73. He goes to the doctor tomorrow to get more skin cancer removed. This will make his sixth skin cancer surgery this year. This is one crappy disease. It just keeps cropping up - mostly on his face. All told, he has already had 8 surgeries for skin cancer.

My brother's son will be 1 tomorrow and my brother will be 41 on the 27th. Then my niece will be 16 on the 30th. We have a lot of November birthday's in our family.

I have one thing to report on the diet front. I bought some of the TastyKake chocolate mint thingies and took them into work. They have been there since last week and I haven't opened them. They have called to me a couple of times, but I have drank some water and waited. I didn't really want them then. I leave them in the cabinet even though they are supposed to be part of my lunch. It seems as long as they are in the cabinet and not in my lunch sack they are safe (or is that I am safe?). Keep the faith ;)

11/21/99 I had my dad and his friend over the dinner today as it was dad's 73rd birthday yesterday. We had turkey with all the trimmings. I know we will be having the same things on Thursday, but that is what he wanted, so that is what I fixed. We will go over my sister's house on Thursday. I am responsible for supplying the home-made rolls and the French apple pie.

Dad made out pretty good with his surgery. The doctor removed a spot about as big around as a quarter and about 1/2 inch deep. He goes back in 10 days to get the stitches removed and more cancer cut out. Working on a farm sure took it's toll on him.

Joey goes for an MRI on his leg on Friday. He has had chronic pain and I finally got him to go to the doctor. He told him to take ibuprofen for 2 weeks and then come back. The pain is under control as long as he takes the ibuprofen, but returns as soon as it wears off. The doctor sent him to an orthopedic surgeon. He had to have x-rays before he went. They showed nothing but the orthopedic guy said he could feel a rigidity that shouldn't be there. There is a chance that he had a tumor. Guess we will know more after the MRI. Then he returns to the ortho guy about 3 days after that. (Of course, being a mom, I have been thinking the worse before the ortho guy even said it could possible be a tumor.)

Nothing happening on the weight loss front. Have been trying to watch what I eat, but it has been pretty hard with everything that has been going on in my life. Seems like I take 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Keep the faith

11/24/99 I can't believe that tomorrow will be Thanksgiving already. I just put two pies in the oven (one apple and one French apple).

Took the bandages off my dad's latest surgery. He is bruised from shoulder to elbow.

Am pretty worried about Joe. His leg has been bothering him more and more. He has the MRI tomorrow and will return to the dr one day next week. As for my diet, I am just going to try to make wise choices tomorrow and stop when I am full, but not stuffed. Keep the faith ;)

11/26/99 We had a really nice day yesterday. Went over to my sister's and had dinner. I made two pies (one regular apple and one French apple). I also made rolls. I can honestly say I did a pretty good job on eating. Had a couple slices of turkey, small spoonful of mashed potatoes, peas, stuffing, half a sweet potato and a roll. Then everyone sat around and talked. After a couple of hours I had a small slice of french apple pie. We were there for five hours and that is all I ate. I came home feeling satisfied, but not uncomfortably full. I believe that must be one of the few Thanksgivings that I haven't left the table feeling as stuffed as the turkey. I am pretty danggon proud of my self. Hope everyone had a nice day also. Keep the faith ;)
11/28/99 Jai and I had a mother/daughter day Friday. We went to the Lighthouse Diner for lunch and then went and saw Sleepy Hollow. It was a different interpretation of the story, but I liked it. It was pouring rain when we got out of the theater. Traffic driving up 95 was only going 50 mph. Thank heaven they had enough sense to slow down and keep their distance from each other. Even so, it was a pretty tense drive home. Jai knew it was bad when I didn't sing along to the CD.

Joe had his MRI Friday. I will call tomorrow and make an appointment for him at the doctor to find out what is going on. I hope we get some answers. I have been trying to not let this have an impact on my eating. It has been hard.

It is getting colder here. I have a nice batch of chicken soup going in the crock pot. Will let it cook on low heat overnight and then I will have some for my lunch tomorrow at work. That will be nice and low fat. I may even add some rice, not sure yet. Keep the faith ;)

11/30/99 Joe goes for the results of his MRI this afternoon at 4:00. Yobo is going with him as I won't be home from work in time. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Will let you know how things turn out.

Can you believe that tomorrow is 1 Dec already. This year surely has flown. And here I sit, exactly where I was at the start of the year, possible even a few pounds heavier. I sure am not very successful at this weight loss effort. I plan on improving that next year. Keep the faith ;)

UPDATE - Got the results from Joe's MRI. The doctor said the only thing that showed up on the MRI was that Joe's muscle was inflamed, but no tumor. Thank heaven for that. He wants Joe to have physical therapy for 4 weeks.
