Sam hurriedly laced up her hiking boots. She, Ike and Tay were going on a hike. Zac would have come, but he had gotten stung by a bee earlier on the bottom of his foot and was resting in their tent. When she looked up she saw Tay was standing beside her. "Are you ready?" he asked. "Yeah," she said dreamily looking up at his face. The three of them took the green path which lead to a spectacular view of the falls. "I could stay here forever," Sam whispered,"It's just so beautiful." "Yeah, it's magical," responded Tay. Sam looked up and saw Taylor's bright blue eyes staring at her as if they were piercing her soul. They only had eye contact for a split second, but to Samantha it seemed like an eternity. All three of them were thinking about what had just gone on. Samntha thought it was a sure sign that Taylor liked her. Taylor was thinking about how stupid he was. He made Sam feel like he liked her-- he knew from the expression in her eyes-- when in reality he didn't. If he wasn't too busy secretly cussing out his previous actions he would have noticed the hurt look in Ike's eyes. "She doesn't like me. She loves Tay and he likes her. It's a match made in heaven." Ike thought with a heavy heart. "Sometimes it seems that Tay and I are so close, that it's like he's me and I'm looking at myself from the third person. It's looking out on life from a different point of view. If only it were true." As they turned back to hike back to the campsite Samantha decided that later she would ask Taylor if he wanted to see the moonbow with her. The moonbow was a rainbow caused by the moon's light being refracted through the mist from the waterfall. She was too busy thinking about how perfect it would be when she was coming down a steep incline a couple of feet from the overlook. She tripped and fell--not in the direction of the falls, but she took a good tumble into a nearby pine tree. Instantly, Ike and Tay were by her side. "Are you OK?" Ike asked, concern darkening his eyes. "I think so, it just knocked the breath out of me." As Samantha stood up, she yelped and immediatly leaned against the tree. "I think I twisted my ankle." "Oh no," groaned Ike. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to fall. I think I was just still thinking about the waterfall. I don't think I'll be able to hike back." "Well either Tay or I could hike back while the other stays with you." "I guess that could work, but who will stay?"Samantha asked hoping that Taylor would. "I don't care," Taylor casually said. "Well then if you don't care then you can stay, Taylor." Ike knew that if Samantha was going to even notice him he would have to stay. "Actually I would prefer to stay." "But, Taylor already..." "That's OK, I need some time to myself." Taylor supplied, not wanting to be caught in that situation as he quickly began the hike back. So Ike helped Samantha up to the bench by the overlook. They sat there together for an hour and a half till an emergency squad came. During that time Samantha was furious at Ike because he ruined her chances. By the time the stretcher came it seemed like it had taken a week. She had to sit there with Ike when she could have been sitting there with Taylor. By the time they got her to the ranger station she was fast asleep.
