Falling Through Time by Anne Vanderhorst Chapter One Zacheriah I couldn't believe it. One second I was standing there in Laser Quest and the next I was laying at the feet of the infamous Billy the Kid. I stood up and brushed the dirt of my jeans. I looked up into the face of Billy and he just laughed, I tried to laugh to, but it was shaky and false as I eyed the large gun that hung at Billy's side. "I reckon that you just fell onto my feet because you were destined to be my new partner." "What?" I asked giving Billy a quizical look. "You fell out of the sky because you are going to be my partner. We're going to be friends and be the most famous outlaws of the west." "But this, what,, what year is this?" I stammered. "Why it's 1877." "Oh my god, I, man how the hell did this happen?' "See, you'll be perfect, you even talk like an outlaw.' "This, I mean, I'm from 120 years in the future, I have to get back." "You hit your head pretty hard when you fell, we'll go into town and get a hotel and a get you some new clothes, why these things you're wearing are pathetic." "But aren't you wanted?" "Good observation, little buddy, that's why I have a disguise," he remarked as he pulled out a long beard, "They'll never recognize me now." "Don't call me little buddy, my name's Zac.' "Zac, what's that a nickname for, really I've never heard of Zac." "It's short for Zachary." "Well then Zachary I still think you're name is rather odd, I think Zacheriah would fit much better." "But my name is Zac.' "Well Zac, I'll call you that but you better go by Zacheriah in town or folks'll look at you funny.' "Fine then, what should I call you?" "Hmm, I think today's name will be Harrison." "Well then Harrison, it's off to town.' "My dear friend Zacheriah, let's head off.' The situation wasn't nearly as bad as I though it would be. I had just made friends with one of the most feared outlaws of the history of the United States.
