PERSONAL SUBMISSION: JOHN STONE INN, ASHLAND, MASS.

NOTE: THIS IS THE WEB MASTER'S PERSONAL ACCOUNT. I AM LOOKING FOR PHOTOS OF THIS RESTAURANT. PLEASE EMAIL THEM TO ME IF YOU HAVE ONE! FUNNY ENOUGH, MY CAMERA MYSTERIOUSLY DIDN'T WORK DURING MY VISIT...IMAGINE THAT!

During a fall foliage tour of the New England states back in 1995, me and my travel partner decided to drive from Boston to Niagra falls, NY. On the way, I demanded that we stop at the old famous John Stone Inn and have dinner. This was due to several New England ghost stories I read about relating to this place. I had to see it for myself!

We stopped off in Ashland and it didn't take any time to find the place. It's right in front of the railroad tracks in town, perhaps too close. We went in for dinner and while we were waiting, I had a chance to speak with a couple of people who worked there.

The first person I spoke to was a younger lady who seated people. I asked her if the place was really haunted and she told me that the place really scares her and many of the other employees. She said that much of the weird stuff to go on here occurs during the fall and winter. She asked if I noticed that the entry way was really cold and I thought how correct she was. It was perfectly warm outside and yet the lobby seemed to be about 10 degrees colder than the rest of the place. She said they have weird electrical problems but the electricians can't find anything. I asked her if I could go upstairs and look around, which I did.

Within the first minute or so of looking around, I was met by the owner of the place, who had only bought the place only weeks before. He told me that he planned to remodel and that he was glad to give me a tour if I wanted... and I did. Of course, I admitted why I was really there.

First, we looked at the second floor rooms which were used for meetings and alike. He also explained that there were weekly suances held here. We then went into a room which was closed up. The owner explained that he had plans to remodel this room and turn it into a dance hall. He also said that most of the wierd stuff occurs within this room. From this room was a stairwell which lead to the third and fourth floors, which had been burnt out by a fire. We climbed up into this dark area (this was around 8PM at night-it was dark!) which had no electricity because of the fire and when we reached the top of the third floor, the owner picked up a Raggedy Ann doll. He freaked and said "what is this doing here? I put this up on the fourth floor a couple of hours ago. Lets get out of here!" And we did, fast!!!

After further discussion, I went down to eat but not before stopping at the bar where a picture is said to hang of Mr. John Stone, the man who built the hotel in the mid 1800's. I had a hard time locating it but I can almost swear that as soon as my eyes found the picture (which was a lot smaller than I thought it was), the floor under my right foot began to vibrate at a very high frequency. This totally freaked me out.

If you have any information on the John Stone Inn, please submit it to me. This place is considered to be the most haunted place in America. Photos would also be great! If you go there, be warned that this old place has a long history of paranormal happenings. The food ain't bad either but the spirits are said to tap on your shoulders while you're eating sometimes. It's been featured in That's Incredible as well as many other places. HAPPY DINING!
