![]() Walters: Geri, you're going to be asked this forevermore unless you finally answer. You know what I'm going to ask you. Geri: Yeah, I do. (laughs) Walters: OK. Why, why did you leave? Geri: You know I have my reasons why I left the Spice Girls. I could, you know, tell the world, you know, the ins and outs but it's like a marriage. I think, you know, you should keep those kind of things private to a degree. Walters: The bottom line is that like a marriage you were incompatible at a certain point. Yes? And that it just got so difficult personally that it had to break up. Does that sum it up? Geri: Uh...it's just something I had to do. You know, I'm, I'm a woman of principals and morals and you know hopefully integrity and you know you sometimes you, you just, I wouldn't make a decision like that...uh... Geri: Flippantly. And it was just something I had to do. And I hope, you know, given time, you know, people'll understand. Walters: Were you scared? Geri: Oh absolutely! I was terrified. Walters: Are there some circumstances some day where you might go back with the Spice Girls? Geri: I don't think so, but - uh the way I feel at the moment I don't think I would. But, you know maybe when we're 60 and we thought it would be funny. Walters: Uh huh. At this point what does Ginger Spice have in common with Geri Halliwell? Geri: Ginger is still a part of me. She's like my shin to my heel. She's still there, but I've outgrown her. It's natural. I'm 26 years old now. It's natural that I'm going to want to move on and grow up really...so... Walters: It looks like very fast growing up. Geri: To be honest, I've lived a very crowded hour. I feel I've lived 10 lifetimes in four years. I mean the amount , the opportunities, I've been given, it's amazing. Walters: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Geri: Doing something wonderful and real and provoking. Walters: What color will your hair be? Geri: It might be shaved off by then. Who knows? Who cares! Really. Then, to Barbara Walters alone: Geri just signed a $3 million solo recording contract and it appears that she'll soon be spicing up the movies as well. |
