Greg Maddux is regarded as the best current pitcher, arguably the best ever. He won 4 consecutive Cy Young Awards from 1992-1995 and had the league's lowest ERA several times. His speed isn't much, but the guy can place the ball anywhere he wants to, that is what makes him effective. His contract signs him for 11 milliom a year. He finished 2nd in the 1997 Cy Young voting.
