A BIG FAT MONSTER IS OUTSIDE,
OLIVER IS HIS NAME.

MOTHER, MAY I PLAY WITH HIM?
HE IS REALLY VERY TAME.

"THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS MONSTERS!"

OH YES THERE ARE! SHE SAID.

BUT HE'S NOT LIKE OTHER MONSTERS,
"I'M FRIENDLY!" IS WHAT HE SAID.

"I THINK YOU MUST HAVE HAD A DREAM."
MOTHER SAID TO HER.

NO! HE'S REAL! HE'S REALLY REAL!
WITH LOTS OF GREEN AND YELLOW FUR!

MOTHER SAID,"YOU BETTER GO TO BED,
I THINK YOU HAVE THE FLU.
OR HUNGRY? WANT A COOKIE DEAR?"

YES! CAN OLIVER HAVE ONE TOO?

MOTHER CALLED THE DOCTOR,
AND THE DOCTOR SAID;

"SHE HAS NO FRIENDS TO PLAY WITH,
SO SHE MADE ONE UP INSTEAD."

"THANK YOU DOCTOR,"MOTHER SAID,"
I KNOW JUST WHAT I WILL DO!
HONEY, LET'S GO OUTSIDE!

GOOD! CAN OLIVER COME TOO?

"NOW, ISN'T THIS A LOT OF FUN?"

YES I LIKE TO PLAY OUTSIDE.

OLIVER DOESN'T LIKE TO SWING.
HE'D RATHER CLIMB AND HIDE!

"HOW CAN I CONVINCE YOU,
THIS OLIVER IS NOT HERE?

I THOUGHT IF I PLAYED WITH YOU,
YOU'D FORGET ABOUT HIM, DEAR."

WHY DON'T WE GO FOR A DRIVE?
WE WON'T GO VERY FAR.
OLIVER WANTS TO COME ALONG,
HE'S NEVER BEEN IN A CAR!

MOTHER, OLIVER IS HAVING FUN,
BUT HE WANTS TO GO BACK HOME.

HONEY, YOU ARE WORRING ME,
CAN'T YOU SEE WE ARE ALL ALONE?

GOOD! SHE'S FAST ASLEEP NOW,
I THOUGHT THIS DAY WOULD NEVER END!

AND BY TOMORROW MORNING,
SHE'LL HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT THIS "FRIEND"!
