Killed in action on patrol near Arundel, Cape Colony. 16th Dec. 1899. Aged 27. Born, February 1872. Educated Cheltenham College.

JAMESON - 2nd Lieutenant George Uniacke - 1/Border Regt.
  Killed in action at Potchefstroom. 8th Oct. 1901. Aged 22. Only son of Lieutenant-Colonel R. Jameson, Indian Medical Service, of Kilbirnie, Ayrshire.

JANSEN - Lieutenant John Thomas - Warren's Mounted Infantry
Killed in action at Plattdrift. 15th June 1901.

JEFFCOAT - Captain Henry Jameson Powell, DSO. - Royal Field Artillery
Killed in action at Tafelkop. 20th Dec. 1901. Aged 29. Son of Deputy-Surgeon General Jeffcoat, of Surbiton. Born, January 1872.

JELF - Lieutenant Richard John - Royal Engineers
Died on the troopship 'Dilwara'. 2nd June 1900. Aged 28. Eldest son of Major-General R.H. Jelf, CMG, Governor of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. In September 1899 he had married Violet Harrison, daughter of General Sir Richard Harrison.

JENKINS - Lieutenant Charles Morris - Thorneycroft's Mounted Infantry
    Killed in action at Colenso. 15th Dec. 1899. An ex-sergeant in the Glamorgan Infantry Volunteers, he had gone to South Africa in 1888 as a civilian engineer.

JENKINSON - Major Henry Law Acland - Royal Field Artillery
Died of enteric at Havant. 23rd Jan. 1902. Aged 38. Only son of Henry Jenkinson, of Alverston, Warwick. Born, October 1863.

JENNINGS-BRAMLY - Major Alfred William - 19th Hussars
Killed in action at Hake-Banagher. 20th Dec. 1901. Aged 37. Son of Captain R.D. Jennings-Bramley. Born, August 1864. His older brother, Major Richard Jennings-Bramly (Gordon Highlanders) was killed in India in 1897.
Memorial in St. Judes Church, Portsmouth -
"Alfred William Jennings-Bramly, Major, 19th Hussars who was killed in action at Lake Banagar South Africa 20th December 1901. Youngest son of the late Captn Jennings-Bramly."

JERVIS-EDWARDS - Major Cecil Bradney - Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry
Killed in action near Dundee. 28th July 1901. Aged 35. Born, February 1866.

JOHNSON - Lieutenant Wilfrid Moss - 2nd Lancashire Volunteer Artillery
Killed in action at Hamelfontein. 17th Dec. 1900. Aged 22. Son of S.J. Johnson, of Woolton, Liverpool. Born, May 1888. A small party of 28 Yeomanry were surrounded by 250 Boers, but refused to surrender and fought from early morning to after dark, when the Boers withdrew.

Killed in action on the Upper Tugela. 5th Feb. 1900. Aged 42. Born, June 1857.

JOHNSTON - Lieutenant Alfred G. - 5th Victorian M.I.
Killed near Rhenoster Kop. 7th May 1901.

JOHNSTONE - Lieutenant Halbert Russell - 19th Co. 6th Batt. Imperial Yeomanry
Wounded at Onverwacht, 4th Jan. 1902. Died 2 days later. Aged 27. Son of R. Johnstone, of Yokohama. Born, March 1874.

JOHNSTONE - Lieutenant Norman Marshall - 1st Royal Dragoons
Killed in action at Alleman's Nek. 11th June 1900. Aged 27. Fifth son of D. Jonhnstone, of Croy, Dumbartonshire. Born, August 1872.

JONES - Lieutenant George Williams Grey - Royal Army Medical Corps
Died of enteric at Ladysmith. 20th Feb. 1900. Aged 25. Born, August 1874.

JONES - Lieutenant Robert James Thomas Digby, V.C. - Royal Engineers
  Killed in action at Wagon Hill, Ladysmith. 6th Jan. 1900. Aged 23. Born, September 1876. Awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross.
