Exploring Magick

Views on Magick

Magick is present in the environment and in each person. Not everyone
is able to tap into their magickal side. Many do not believe in the
electricity which permeates our every movement or breath. They do not
believe what they cannot see and otherwise doubt their eyes when they
cannot explain or come to terms with events that occur due to magick
because it does not conform to their religious beliefs or upbringing.

Magick can be referred to as a form of prayer although I am sure some
would disagree. To invoke the Goddess or the God during a ceremony
or to focus a blessing is to ask for divine intervention. What is
prayer but a request for divine intervention or for understanding or a
comforting ear?

I envision magick as coming from the heavens as a blessing from the
Goddess or the God and which appears to me as a healing light that
flows throughout my body. The universe is composed of things we cannot
divine or understand and cannot see. Faith is the key. Magick is the
spark or electricity that drives us... the lifeforce perhaps.

What we do with this creative force is a reflection of ourselves. It
is used to invoke the Goddess or the God to accomplish something. It is
not evil in the Wiccan tradition. The three-fold rule or law tells us
that what we do, be it good or bad, comes back to us threefold. If
we attempt to harm with magick then we will suffer the consequences.

Magick is used to bless the instruments of the earth-based religion,
to receive help in divining the truth and to make positive changes in
our lives. It may be used to regain love but not to attract it. It may
be used to help and heal.

I believe that it takes an ordered mind to make magick work. You must
be able to know what your intent is and think through the actions you
are about to take. It is not something to take lightly or without
introspection. The energy or electricity channeled during the use of
magick is very powerful and has the power to harm the human form of
the person who tries to harness it if done unadvisedly or with the
intent to bring harmful consequences on another.

Magickal Spells

There are many examples of spells in books or on the internet for
example. However, to perform magick and get the results you are after
it is highly desirable that you write your own.

Research the aspects of the goddess or god that can assist you to
achieve your goals. Think about what magickal effect you are trying to achieve.

Collect the magickal tools that you will need to make your spell most
effective such as incense, oils and candles. With your thoughts focused
write the words that will help focus your energies and the energies of
the earth and the deities to bring about the change you desire.
Meditation is one way to focus yourself.

Think about the ritual or ceremony you will be performing, whether
it will be simple or complex and what time of day is best to do it.
Consider the aspect of the moon needed to perform this spell since
the magick of the god or goddess is stronger at certain times depending
on which aspect you call upon and for what purpose.

Carefully consider the three-fold law as well so that you dont
inadvertently bring harm upon someone or something during your spell
as it will revisit you three-fold.

Items used in spell-casting do not need to be expensive. They help
you to focus yourself and channel the energies into the work you are
doing. You can even make magickal implements if you so desire.

The magick is already there inside you if you know how to use it.
Combined with the magickal forces of the deities and the earth it is
great power. Use it wisely.
