Progressive Global Communications aims to further the situation of issues such as preserving the world environment and helping people better understand other people and groups. Formed in 1995, the main aim of PGC is to spearhead intelligent and progressive ideas and actions within the entertainment industry. The world of communications is changing rapidly due to advances in technology and companies being consolidated by others. The ability for ideas to reach all corners of the planet has never been more achievable than it is today. Television can transmit a news item to countries all over the world at the same time. Movies that were once released in different countries over several months are now launched around the world in the same week. Cineplexes are now enabling thousands of people to see a new movie on the same day. Where once it took three to six months for a group of people to see a movie, the same number now see the movie within a week or fortnight. The internet is now enabling large sections of the world to reach out and communicate with other people around the globe. We have immediate access to each others information. Never before in the history of the world has the Entertainment Industry based in Los Angeles(movies, television, cable, radio) had such a hold on the minds and actions of so many people in the world. It is important that this power be organised to provide correct information on various issues and peoples around the world. The entertainment industry particularly the one based in Los Angeles, has the potential to excite, invigorate, educate, give hope to and inspire people. The world in some respects has become a very small place and very often voices from Los Angeles are the ones that most people in the world hear. PGC aims to assist the entertainment industry in working for positive results in the way our planet is organised and how people relate to each other.

For all too long many groups have waged an endless campaign to achieve specific or broad range sets of goals relating to poverty and other wrongs in the world. Sometimes these goals have been achieved and sometimes these organisations have rallied large numbers of people actively supporting an issue. However it is not uncommon for a group of people seeking to end a problem in the world to marginalise themselves and become a small insignificant group. Los Angeles and the enetertainment industry in general is often portrayed as being against the interests of people simply because most of it is owned by very wealthy companies. However it is also important to observe what ideas are promoted by the entertainment industry. Some movies deal with issues that many people simply would not think about in such a personal way if they had not seen such a movie. Perhaps "Philadelphia" is a good example regarding AIDS and people gaining a better understanding of the challenges a gay man would have to deal with such as sickness and discrimination. Some issues are not regarded as political by some but they can be very significant in how people live their lives. Movies such as "Top Gun" may be criticised for promoting a militaristic attitude but could equally be valued for the strong message of never giving up on your dreams no matter how challenging the situation may get. "Daylight" can be dismissed as perpetuating the stereotype that tough macho dudes always save the day, but equally we get to see people from different backgrounds learning to trust and support each other. We see people taking risks and again there is the strong message of not giving up no matter how hard things feel or get. This kind of element in a movie can make huge differences in people's lives and this is why the entertainment industry is so important in people's lives. It is important to never underestimate the valuable role that entertainment plays in the lives of people and in shaping the world. PGC aims to support all areas of entertainment in their ideas that move things forward for individuals, groups and the planet.
