Little Chinta

Chinchilla means "little chinta". The chinchilla comes from the high Andes mountains in South America. The climate in the Adeas is Dry and cold.
The chinchilla has the cutest features. The chinchilla looks like a combination between a squirrel and a rabbit.Though not as well know the chinchilla is quite the charmer, and sure to win your heart over.
With proper care the longjevity is 15 years. To stay healthy your chinchilla needs regular supervised exercise periods.Though you can purchase wheels. I myself found them to be expensive, but i am told they are well worth every penny(70.00).
Chins are very clean no fleasor tics, and they take dust bathes so you never have to bathe them in water. The dusting bathe is made up of valcano ashe. It's so cute to watch them role themselves over in it.
Chins can be exceedingly lovable if held, and introduced to people at a young age. Socialized chins love attention! Chins become very attached to their owners. They will nibble on your finger (it means they like you). Chins take up alot of your time, you may want to consider getting your little fur ball(chinchilla) a companion.
Chins are nocturnal meaning they sleep through out the day.You want to consider a dry/cool place for your chins cage.(Not damp though) The room tempature needs to be at 70 degrees fahrenheit. And whatever you do don't place their cages in front of a window where they are exposed to sunlight.Believe it or not i have seen pet store owners do this!I guess i have found everyone tends to have their own way they like to set the cage up. Some people like to use white pine shavings in their chins cages.I personally don't use any in Ashley's cage. Ashley my chinchilla has a big hide a box she loves to sleep in. She has a few balls (toys) in her cage, and a little bear, she sleeps with. Some people like to use branches in their chins cage.Chins love to climb, and will appreciate this. Some of the woods you can use are untreated breech, willow, hazelnut and pine.Ashley's cage is well ventalated, and is made of wire. They have a variety to choose from online.
The chinchilla is very inexpensive to feed. It cost around 25.00 a year to feed chinchillas.Chinchillas eat chin pellets, hay, treats such as rasins, seeds that have been shelled.
The cost of a chinchilla varies. Standard grey is the most common color. On average varying 50.00-150.00 depending on where you buy it.Cinchillas can be bred to a more extravagant color .Such as violet, ebony(jetblack with no white or grey in their coat) and white. These colors are mutations.
