Today
I look at your beautiful face and wonder. Have I given you all that I could
have to make your path smoother? Did I give you the tools to be the best
person you could be? Did I tell you often enough just how special you are?
Did I give you what you needed to be a good mom to your own child? Did
I set a good example for you to follow?
You
ask yourself all of these questions and just hope that the answer to most
of them is yes, you hope that you have given your children the important
things that will help guide them through their life, helping them to be
a loving and caring person. One who will not mistreat their fellowman but
will make a positive impact on the lives they touch. You hope they will
be a parent who loves their children above all else and will in return
give them the love and guidance to be the best person they can be.
Time
flies by so fast when your children are small. Before you know it they
are grown and gone from your daily life. They fly away to build a life
of their own then time slows down again as you wait for every postcard,
every letter and every phone call. You don't stop being a mom just because
they are grown and have a life of their own, you still worry and long for
their touch, the sound of their voice.
You
hope, you pray and sometimes wish that you could turn back the clock and
do some things over again. But life goes on and sometimes you are lucky
enough to get a chance to do things a little differently with your Grandchildren
than you did with your children, sometimes you are too far away to get
the opportunity, so you settle for pictures and phone calls and wish life
would give you another chance.
It
is only at these times that I wish I could turn back the clock, hold you
a little closer, tell you I love you a little more often, watch the special
moments a little longer and feel your arms around my neck just little tighter.
For
all the times I missed the chance to say it, I LOVE YOU.
For
all the opportunities I missed to let you know, YOU ARE SPECIAL.
For
all of the times I was too busy to tell you, YOU ARE IMPORTANT TO ME.
For
all the times that I neglected to show you, I AM PROUD OF YOU.
Happy
Birthday Jamie, I love you.
