My
Daughter the Marine
My
daughter, she left home today.
To
become a better woman, they say.
But
I don't know, how can that be?
She's
already top of the heap to me.
Her
mind is fine, her body's grand.
They
sing her praises all over this land.
What
more could a woman want, I say.
She's
loved and adored in every way.
Is
she looking for a friend?
Just
then my feeble mind kicked in.
Her
search is not for friend or foe.
She's
looking for Jamie, don't you know!
She
holds her head straight and high.
She
doesn't let the world go by.
She
charges in with full command!
The
best from life she does demand.
Now
if you think my story's tall.
You
haven't met my girl at all.
She's
gorgeous, smart and proud you see.
Some
folks say she's a lot like me.
That
wasn't meant to be a brag.
I
look at her, my chest can't sag.
She
brings back those days gone by.
When
I faced life, eye to eye.
She
won't flinch, I know she won't.
She'll
march right in, run she don't!
She'll
stand the test, like you've never seen.
She's
my United States Marine!!
With
Love and Pride, Mom
