KROY Identify On Demand

Q - What is the most frequent cause of survivable failure in a KROY K-Series label and wire marker printer?
A - There is a #2032 lithium cell battery that preserves volatile memory in those printers. When the 3.0 volt battery goes below about 1.0 volts, the memory gets scrambled. At that point, the printer will do some odd and not always predictable things. All one has to do to resolve it is to replace the battery with a fresh one (they just cost about $3.00 each) and do a printer RESET. If you don't know how to do that, we can help you. When repairing or Turbocharging, our techs replace that battery anytime it shows signs of starting to deplete. That helps minimize downtime for the customer later on, and minimizes the number of premature returns for followup service by us.

Q - When I go to print multiple shrink tube wire markers with my Kroy K4350 machine, it prints one, advances the label supply for a while, then beeps and I get a red light. What might be wrong?
A - The software for most bulk label printers defaults to "labels with gaps". But heat shrink and some types of other label supply are continuous, rather than individual die cut laid out on the liner paper. We suggest that you check your material settings first, and if it's set on "labels with gaps" change it to "continuous". Still have a problem? Then give us a call.
