Coming out means
Admitting to yourself, and at least one other
person that you are not heterosexual. This is
something like rebirth. The world will never look
quite the same again. For many, it becomes a bond
of love with a sacred inner child; a commitment of
acknowledgment.
Outing yourself
Scott tends to favor the direct approach: "Hi mom or friend, I'm gay...this is important to me, and I would like
to talk with you about it." Or, "I'm gay...if you'd like, we can discuss what this means." This
"cut-to-the-chase" method can get you right to the "where will we go from here" stage, cutting out
much of the agony that commonly precedes publicly saying, "I'm gay or bisexual." However,
Scott certainly realizes that being direct can be painfully difficult for both mother, child or friend. So, in lieu
