Hunter/Jumper Facts!
1) Hunter is judged on the rider and horses form and how they work together
2) Jumper is a grueling discipline where you have to beat the other
horses with speed, tight turns, and clearing high jumps
3) Both need lots of flat work so you should always include dressage or equotation
in your routine.
4) Hunter is lower than jumper but the judgeing is stricter. The
judge needs to like your horse and your rounds. In jumper, it's all skill. There are no preferences
to a certain horse.
5)Jumper is generally open to horses only who can clear high jumps
but there are certain jumper classes called pony jumper that are for
ponies.
6) Another type of jumper is caled puissance, it is a
competition to see which horse can clear the highest jump. Some horses have
cleared over 7 and a half feet!
7) Hunter is very popular but it is not an event in the Olypics
while Jumper is.
8)Some great jumpers include Milton, Monopoly, Big Ben and the mighty
puissance horse, Saragat
9)In Hunter you should have a very steady flowing
rhythem, while in jumper, beating the time allowed is the objective.
10) In jumper, after the horses have completed their first round, the
horses that had clear rounds with zero faults move onto the jump-off
