Part 4: Convention Chaos

Sailor Orpheus was currently in the dealer's room browsing when she saw a Magic Knights Rayearth poster she HAD to have. Orpheus thought back to when Pendula had given her the credit card. *Thanks Pendula! Looks like this _did- come in handy!*

She handed the card to the merchant who gave her a confused gaze. "This card is for a Gemmil Fitzroy." Surprised at what she heard, Orpheus smiled. *Why that little..* "Yes sir, he's my brother. I can go get him if you want." The dealer shook his head no and ran the card through. He then handed it back to Orpheus who moved on to the next table. Holding the card in her hand, she smiled a sadistic smile as she thought aloud. "Ooh, I am gonna have FUN with you!"

Orpheus emerged from the dealer's room carrying several items stuffed in shopping bags. "Whew! This place is amazing! I wonder if Hikari has hit this room yet? If all our investigations went like this, I'd use up my college fund. Good thing Gemmil's _generous_ enough to foot the bill for this trip!"

The senshi giggled as she carried her loot to a nearby doorway. As she read the sign above the door, Orpheus nearly dropped her many bags. A few passers by turned to look as the excited senshi let out a squeal.

"Anime music video contest!! THIS I have to see!" Orpheus paused at the door, her hand inches away from the handle as she remembered why they were there. She cringed at the thought of Warlock lecturing her for abandoning her investigation.

*Well, I'm sure it's _possible_ the enemy could have set up a subliminal brainwashing program through music videos. It's my duty to check it out!* After easing her conscience in a manner that would make even Usagi shake her head in disapproval, the senshi rushed through the door and took a seat in the front row.

"Okay people, let's watch some music videos!" Orpheus watched in awe as the staff member was able to receive an enormous reaction from the audience with so few words. The female warrior shifted in her seat as she watched the man in anticipation, her attention shifting back and forth from him to the screen before her as he fiddled with the projector.

"Show time!" The man put down his microphone as the first video began.

Meanwhile, back in the art room Sailor Pendula had finished helping with set up and was currently comparing sketchbooks with her new found friend. "This is very well done. You do good work. Why didn't you enter the art show?" Pendula blushed slightly upon receiving the girl's comment. "Ahh,...I'm from outta town."

"Hey Pendula, so here you are! Find anything?"

Both girls turned to see Sailor Stardust entering the room with a slight wobble in her step. "Oh hi Stardust! Find?...Uh, no not really.." Pendula nervously tried to change topics for fear of her fellow senshi finding out the truth. She turned to the girl behind her bringing her into the conversation. "Uh, Stardust! Let me introduce you to my new friend. She helped put together this art display! Aren't the pieces wonderful!"

The girl extended her hand to meet Stardust's. "Wow! Another awesome costume! You two really went all out! Nice to meet you. I'm..." The girl was cut off when Stardust gave her a look of bitterness. "You weren't by any chance in the main ballroom earlier were you?" the senshi inquired as she felt a shooting pain in her ankle.

The girl looked back at her slightly puzzled at the sudden question. She then let out a small giggle before replying. "Well, yes,..briefly! I had used the ballroom as a shortcut before. I was late coming here with some paintings. Why?"

Pendula stared as Stardust's expression changed to one the senshi would commonly use when confronting an enemy. "Y'know, I don't mind the ankle so much, but _you_ came between me and my _work_!!!" Pendula looked on hesitating to intervene, for while she mistook Stardust's statement as reference to the investigation, Stardust was actually grumbling over another resulting event from the previous encounter

. The girl's focus shifted to Stardust's ankle and she suddenly turned quite apologetic. "Oh geez, did I cause that? I'm sorry! I was in such a hurry I didn't notice I'd hit anyone. Gomen nassai." Stardust was taken aback by the formal apology and smiled at the girl who was rising from her bow position.

"It's alright. Nice to meet you!" "You too! Again, I'm sorry. I'm Cathy by the way!"

Seeing the possibility for a confrontation had passed, Pendula stepped forward coming to rest beside her fellow warrior.

Stardust noticed the bag of anime merchandise by Pendula's side and became curious. "Where'd you get all the loot?" Pendula confessed she'd done some shopping in the midst of her "investigation" and the pair became quite excitable. Cathy smiled at the sight and pointed the two in the direction of the dealer's room.

***************

Manzer sat alone in a secluded corner behind the auditorium. He was fully transformed into his natural dragon form and wanted nothing more than to avoid making a scene at a public event. The dragon thought back to Lunar's last words before he'd left Manzer's side. *Just stay here big guy! I'll find the others and we'll get you outta here!*

Manzer let out a huge sigh as he sat alone listening to the voices in the next room. *I'll just stay here till Lunar returns with the others.* he thought.

"Hey, what're you doing back here? The masquerade is in the auditorium!"

A startled Manzer turned to see a girl standing before him. She was dressed head to toe in a blue armour like ensemble and she carried with her a sword equally spectacular to that of her outfit. The thing that caught Manzer's attention however was that the girl was not the least bit afraid.

Unfazed by the monstrous creature before her, she continued. "Hey, do you have a partner for the masquerade? You make a great Celece! That's the best costume I've seen yet! What say we team up, we'll be a shoe in for first place!"

Manzer stared at the girl, still puzzled at her lack of fear. *She sees me in this form yet she doesn't budge. Maybe I was worried over nothing. People here seem to think we're all in costume anyways. Maybe I can move about out in the open after all.*"Uh, sure! Why not?"

Manzer followed the girl to the auditorium where several people stood in costume striking various poses and mimicking phrases seemingly popular to the crowd. The contents of the auditorium froze as Manzer made his entrance. *Oh boy, here it comes!* The dragon waited for the first blood curdling scream.

Instead, his ears were met with sounds of cheering. Manzer could just make out some of the individual reactions from the room.

"What a costume!"

"AWESOME!"

"What attention to detail! This one's a winner for sure!"

A sense of relief came over the dragon as he saw the girl smiling up at him in satisfaction. "Told you so!"
