For those who don't have the game it has four wings coming off like an X-Wing but they do not fold up and the bottom wings are smaller than the top wings. The cockpit looks like an F-18 Hornet's set out near the nose on the fuselage. The engine is in the back and is basically a bar straight across with manuvering jets beside it. The Lasers are mounted around the nose one right of the cockpit, one left of the cockpit and one right in front of the cockpit. The Ion Cannon is mounted underneath the top laser.
Capsule: Yet another of KDY's ventures into the starfighter market the A-23 "Corsair" is intended to phase out the old TIE Interceptors. The A-23 was dubbed the "Corsair" by the first Imperial pilots to fly it, mainly because of the ion cannon (normally used to disable ships, the pilots said, "So now we're pirates."). The A-23 has a different control setup than is standard throughout Imperial starfighters, but is able to function using a standard TIE helmet (the helmet still adds bonuses when used by a tie pilot). The Corsair is considerably more expensive than the TIE Interceptor but the shields, the Ion Cannon and the hyperdrive are definitly worth the cost. This fighter was in the prototype stage before the Battle of Endor and is now in production (2 years after the Battle of Endor).
Deployment: The Corsair is generally deployed in the same roles as the TIE Interceptor, but with the hyperdrive it is also used to show up before any important ship arrives and clear out the fighters. It can also be used as close support for bombers, missleboats, and capital ships. While the numbers of the Corsair are still low the functionality and effectiveness of it has put this fighter in high demand.
