History: The TIE Devastator was a privite venture by Sienar Systems to take the TIE Defender to the next level. Orignally just planned as the TIE DEFENDER-B, by the time the desgin was finished the craft shared little with the Defender-A outside of a superfical resembalance.Using a whole array of new systems, new alloys and redesgining, the craft was renamed the Devastator. The ship resembled a cross bred between a stealth fighter and the Defender. It shared the TIE Defender's wing pattern, but enlarged the engine compartment allowing for more power generators for the new weapons. The larger hull gave room for weapons to be mounted in the ship as well, giving it the firepower of many small warships. Hyperdrive and shield capablity remained standard, while the rest of the ship is experimental. Yes pilots trained to fly the Defender can fly the Devastator, but the ship is more responisve to the controls then expected. An advanced droid brain helps control the ship, and operates the weapons systems freeing the pilot to handle the ship. The original plant that desgined the craft was destroyed by Rebels soon after the desgin reached the prototype stage. Fifteen various examples were built, all the same expcept for different model systems to see which worked togther best. Alpha, Beta and Delta prototypes were destroyed with the plant but the others escaped to various Imperial worlds. While most of the engineers involved in the project were also killed, the desgin specs survied through the Sienar databases and the pilots of the remaining TIE Devastators are eager to engage the enemy.
