Where Are They Now?
Iowa City's Swimming Alumni

Message from David S. Doty:

Greetings to the West High Swim Team! I am a former Trojan swimmer, having swam from 1980-83. Although I was not all-state, or even all-MVC caliber, I did have a great time and have many fond memories of being on the team.

After high school, I attended Brigham Young University, where I received my B.A. in Spanish in 1989. I then went to Stanford, where I received an M.A. in Education in 1990. While at Stanford, I went to several swim meets and water polo games that were a lot of fun. I then came back to BYU and received my J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1993.

I currently live in North Salt Lake, Utah, a suburb adjacent to Salt Lake City; my wife's name is Rori and I have two kids, a daughter, Shannon (age 4) and a son, Mark (age 1)--the kids both love the water. I am the Assistant to the Superintendent for Policy & School Law for the Davis County School District, a 58,000 student district near my home.

My younger brother, John Doty, was also a member of the West High team from 1982-83 (he's actually the one who found your home page, apparently through the Yellow Pages of Swimming). John also went to BYU, and then went on to Georgetown Medical School, where he graduated in 1994. He currently lives in Baltimore, where he is doing a thoracic surgery residency at Johns Hopkins University.

I have kept in touch with a former teammate of mine,Marty DeWitt, who graduated in 1983 with me. Marty recently got married and is living in Mexico City working for Bain & Company. I will pass on this home page information to him.

Anyway, the home page is outstanding and is a great reflection not only of City & West High schools but also of the swim teams. Keep up the good work and best of luck in the pool.

Phil Luebke, West '89 attended the University of Northern Iowa after high school, and received his B.A. in Marketing in 1993.
