A.J. has a weakness: girls! For him to fall in love is a natural, inevitable and wonderfull thing... and also terrible. He had 3 real girlfriends and the last one broke his heart: "I can't accuse her for break up with me. Handle Backstreet Boys' rhythm is not easy...". A.J. understood her, because he has a big heart, but when she told it to him, on the phone, he cryed all night. In spite of all this, he still being an irremediable romantic and one of his conquers' tactics is: "Girls are like diamonds. Like rock at the beginning, but with much love and care they become like jewels". Truly, A.J. always had much success as a seducer: in a school's party he gave a kiss to every girl that danced with him! And he has big fame for his good kissing. His tecnic is: "let her take the initiative and don't force things".

A BODY OF DREAM

A.J. likes to care for his image. His changings of look are already famous (his mother almost had an attack when she saw his blond painted hair), and he used green contact lens! Thanks to swimming and gymnastic, A.J. wan one of the most beautiful pop music's bodys, in spite of his nickname "Bone", that came because of his thinness. For him the better part of his body are his eyes (he has long eyelashes) and hands ("not by their shape, but by the way I use them" Wow). He uses cucumber's oil to combat spots: "I used to press them, but now I don't want them to left stain". Let's take a note!

BIG PARTIES!

Dance, tell jokes, make crazy things... A.J. loves have fun and go out: "But I never go out if next morning we have a show", explains. The best parties where he had been it were when he made 18 years old and Nick's birthday day: "The party was at our manager's house, it were there more than 200 people!! They threw me to the swimming pool and I threw a cake to Nick's face...". But he did a bigger crazy thing: "We were next to a semaphore, right by side our musicians' car and we started kidding with them... Things were getting real bad that we turn back and we put our trousers down! You can imagine their faces! I still cry when I remember that. But this is not a thing we usually do, ok?".

When he talks about this, A.J. can't avoid stay with a briliant and sad look in his eyes: his younger twin sisters died at birth. It was a very big pain for all family, specially to his mother: "When she came from the hospital without the twins, I didn't understand nothing", says A.J.. At home everything was prepared to receive the 2 babies and their death was a real nightmare: "they explained me that I was going to have 2 little sisters with who I could play and I was really sad when I knew that I would never meet them. Sometimes I imagine how they would be right now, if everything went right...". Now, Howie, Nick, Kevin and Brian are like family to him, the brothers he never had: "I had never felt so happy. Of course we have our discussions, like any family, but we always end with hugs", says A.J..

AFRONT HAPPYNESS

A.J. grew up as an only child, but always surrounded by his family's love. His grandparents, Úrsula and Adolph, were very important to him, specially after his parents' separation. A.J. was only 4 years old when his father left home. Since then, he saw him few times and he doesn't like to talk about this subject: "I habituated myself living without him. My mother gave me the strenght and love I needed and, I didn't miss him".

HIS BEST FRIEND: HIS MOTHER

A.J. loves his mother. It was her that found his artistic talent and put him on the success's way: "A.J. were a very opened child. He was always talking with everybody, even strangers! When he was younger he liked to dress like a man, with hat and suitcase, and he acted for us", tell his mother, having a lot of fun. Denise's happiest day was when A.J. dedicated her a song. He was only 8 years old and the song was called "Wind Beneath My Wings". This song was dedicated to her on mother's day and she didn't only cry but she was sure that A.J.'s future was on a stage. It was she that put him as a model for children' clothes and later took him to every castings. Finally he got a role in some theatre plays from Disneyworld (his first role was one of Snow White's dwarfs) and in a television program "Nickelodeon". After that, his mother has been his big confidant, giving him strenght and helping him in everything. Not only tried to conciliate A.J.'s career with studies, contracting particular teachers, but spent also all her economies so he could have dancing, singing and piano classes... The most important thing ti her was come true A.J.'s dreams. Now she is the one responsible for every Backstreet Boys' tournées and the meetings they have with their fans in every cities. She was the one that formed BSB' first Fan Club. As he says: "She is like a mother for all of us. She take care of us, help us changing clothes in the shows, cares about out alimentation and support us when something goes wrong. Sometimes she gets mad with us, but she is a nice person ans so positive that we talk to her when we want to. I love her and I have much luck because she makes part of BSB' team, and I don't have to stay much time away from her".

FAMILY'S JEWELS

The most part of A.J.'s rings and necklases are gifts from his family and have a special meaning to him. He wears in the neck a chain with a silver bone that his mother offered him when he finished school: "The bone is because of my nickname "bone", and she offered it to show that she was really proud of me", explains A.J. with a big smile. He always wears it, also, a golden ring that his grandparents gave him when he finished highschool, another from a U.S.A.'s friend and one that somebody threw during a show and beat him on his head. But the most special of all is the one that he wears on his right hand: "I found him in a painfull situation. I was dancing in one of our concerts and, suddently I felt a horrible pain on my foot. I had trodden something that was on my foot... It was this ring! It made blood and everything, but I took it and now I use it as an amulet". Every jewels that A.J. uses have a story that he loves to tell: "Are like pieces of my life".

The first time A.J. gave a kiss in a girl, he had only 4 years old and the experience didn't leave him a very good memory... The lucky one was his neighbour Jennifer. The problem was that, after he gave her a kiss, she gave him a big punch on his stomach because she didn't like it! A.J. was very sad and without understanding nothing. He never gave more kisses till make 12 years old when he decided to try again, but this time with a girl from his class. This time was a serious kiss but the consequences were unforgettable too. They decided to give a kiss through school's barriers and they were so dedicated to it, that when they stopped A.J. was with the barrier's seal on his face! You can't imagine the problems he had trying to explain to his teachers why he was like that! Thanks God he was getting better, and he learned to give less "dangerous" kisses.

DELICIOUS BUNNY

When easter's holidays were about to come, A.J. was always nervous. Do you know why? Because of his mother, that used to dress him as a bunny easter and take him to every hospital in Florida, to give easter eggs to the kids. A.J. says that he never felt so badly in his life: "The intention was very good, but I was dieing with shame everytime I had to dress that mask. I felt ridiculous!". Can you imagine A.J. in a white suit with 2 big ears on his head?

A MEETING WITH "TERMINATOR"

Another unforgettable moment of A.J.'s life happened during one of Backstreet Boys' european tournée. The boys from Orlando were in Berlin at the same time as Arnold Schwarzenegger, one of A.J.'s fave actors. "I saw "Terminator" and "Terminator II" many times", he says. They got crazy when they saw him and they weren't capable to talk with him. Then A.J. was the one that gave the first step: he went to him and invited him to dinner on Hollywood Planet Restaurant. Arnold accepted the invitation and they also danced together on the restaurant's dance track! A.J. was so excited that he forgot to ask him his Los Angeles's photo number.

BAD LUCK

A few time ago A.J. lived one of the hardest moments of his life. During a tournée on Canada he was knocked down by a car! He will never forget the pain and scare he felt in that moment. "We were getting out of a television's studio and we were going to our bus. The driver started makind back motion between the crowd, and without knowing, he passed over my foot with the wheel". A.J. started screaming asking for help, the security guys tried to rising up the car, but it was impossible to move it out. The driver had to pu the car working again and A.J. almost fainted. This adventure's result was: he got plastered. But this situation, A.J. didn't want to leave the group alone so he decided to continue the concerts' tournée. Without dancing, of course...
