Angst & Apathy

Ani on the stereo
Making me feel her anger.
It’s easy to be angry
The mob is far away and small from here.
Inhaling poison and laughing into acrid air.
I light another cigarette.
.....
It could be just the cleaning agents
I’ve been using on my tub.
Flush it all away, it's not
My problem once down the drain.
Try another, but the flavor is the same.
Hard to swallow like pre-soaked lungs
When the words that Ani just sung
Takes the skin off tired paint.
.....
Throw open a window to a milky sky
And cough with its distaste.
Watch the cars swerve by
Spewing curses in their rage.
There’s only a little life left in this town.
There's only so much we can take before we die,
So let’s take this pistol for a ride.
