Title: Dear Sam 22 Author: Istannor Series: TOS Part: 1/1 Rating: [PG13] Codes: Summary: We give our thanks to Ambassador Spock's estate for allowing us to view these records. It allows us an unusual insight into the process by which the most famous Command team in Starfleet history, became a team. Disclaimer: These are the characters of Paramount and Viacom. They own them. I only check 'em out from the library. I promise to bring 'em back. Captain James T. I invited them both to my cabin for dinner. I checked for bugs and eyes. I was so nervous and I could see they were nervous, too. We ate in absolute silence. I cleared my throat and got ready to let her rip. The yellow alert went off. Some tourists got hit by an ion storm near the great Nebulae. The last message they sent said they were going to try to land on one of the nearby planets. They sent their coordinates. There are more than 50 men, women and children out there waiting for our help. Needless to say, there was no time for our heart to heart conversation. McCoy is in Sickbay getting it ready for casualties. Spock is on the bridge, coordinating the search for survivors. I ran down here to shower and shave. We have been on the bridge for 14 hours without relief. I have to inspect the ship to make sure everyone is ready to receive passengers and/or corpses. Saved by the bell. I do not know how long it will be until I have my talk with them, but I didn't want you waiting on pins and needles the whole time. If you don't hear from me soon, it means the search is taking longer than we expected. It doesn't mean I'm having lunch in my own brig under lock and key. Love, Jim October 18, 1999 Page 2
