NOTES on music files:

The way that you are able to use the song page depends on what type of plug-ins you have installed on your computer. If you have a plug-in that lets you listen to music files a small control box will appear and you will be able to control the music, enabling you to stop, rewind, fast forward and play without loosing sight of the lyrics. If you do not have the proper plug-in, you will not see a control box, and will need to download one.

If you would like to see what type of Plug-ins you have simply click on Help from your menu and chose "About Plug-ins". Then hit the "Back" button to come back here.

Crescendo Music (midi) Player is a plug-in that you download from liveupdate.com. This Christmas Caroloke was made for use with it. Also try the QuickTime plug-in. (Please note - you do not need Crescendo to hear the music.)

Below you will find info about a few common plug-ins as
well as (unsolicited) opinions on each one.

- QUICK TIME		A good choice for this page. A grey control box with volume, play/pause, a rw/ff slider and info button will appear.
- BEATNIK		Can cause error pop-ups. A grey box with "BEAT" is present. Clicking the box does not play the file. You may need to right-click first, then click "Play." Simply clicking on the box will only select "Mute." You may have had this plug-in installed if you downloaded a newer version of Netscape Communicator. The simplest way to disable Beatnik is to delete (or move) NPBeatnk.dll from your plug-ins folder (C:\Program Files\Netscape\ Communicator\Program\Plugins). Netscape will then default to a REAL plug-in.
- CRESCENDO		The best choice for midi music files. It is FREE and is easy to use. The sound quality is very good, and you can save each carol by right-clicking on the logo at the top left of the player and selecting "save as."
