The Pliney Lee Allford Family of Arkansas

C.W. Allford who was born about 1815 in Connecticutt married Elizabeth who was born about 1809 in Ohio. They had Tracy b. 1836 in Ohio, Volney b. 1839 in Ohio, Calphennia b. 1842 in Ohio, Pliney Lee b. 1844 in Ohio and Smith b. 1847 in Illinois. Pliney Lee Allford was granted one of the original land grants in Arkansas in 1881 at S33-T10-R29. He and Minerva Jane Arr were married at that time. She had one daughter which she brought to the marriage Alice Arr. Together Pliney and Minerva had six other children. Dollie Jane b. 2-28-1882, Cora B. b. 9-1885, Tempie and Paul Aug. 1889, Calphornia Caroelia (Callie) 4-11-1891, and Willard V. b. 3-4-1896. They were all born in Arkansas. Alice married John Barnes in Crawford County, Arkansas 11-25-1895. Dollie Jane married John William Thompson 9-26-1897 in Island, Arkansas. Callie married K.C. Corsbie which was John Thompson's first cousin 7-26-1906 at York, Indian Territory (Oklahoma). Paul died at the age of nine August 12, 1898 and shares a tombstone with his mother, Minerva, who died Nov. 30,1897. Willard died of food poisoning at Camp Bowie, Texas Feb. 6, 1918. Dollie Jane, the oldest child of Pliney and Minerva, eventually moved with her husband John to Pontotoc County in what would become Oklahoma. They had ten children, six of whom would live to be adults. They are: Carl 1898, Silas 1900, Sarah Francis 1901, Sidney Lee 1903, Clara Viola 1906, Luther James 1908, Neal Jackson 1911, Johnnie Lois 1914, Sampson 1917, and Lona 1919. Luther James was a loving child and always helped his mother. He was deeply saddened when his mother died Feb. 22, 1926 in Roswell, New Mexico where the family had moved because of her health. Luther married Willie Mae Blackwell and had one child JaNell Deane 12-27-1946. JaNell had one daughter Tonya Gayle 12-26-1972.
