John Blackwell Sr. was born around 1760 and married three times. The first two wives were probably named Elizabeth and Mary. That has not been proven, however. His third wife was a widow named Jane Wakefield. They married 12-28-1842. John had thirteen children twelve of whom lived to be adults. They were: Nathaniel b. about 1779 in Georgia and d. in the 1820's, Elizabeth b. around 1793 in Georgia d.?, Gabriel b. 1797 in Georgia d. after 2-27-1850, Josiah b. 6-8-1800 in Georgia d. around 1870, Brice M.G. b. ca.1815 in Bedford County, Tennessee and d. ca.1846 in St. Francis County, Arkansas, Shrewsberry b. Nov. 1802 in Tennessee d. 1849 Cherokee County, Texas, James G. b. 2-19-1807 d. 8-2-1873, Sarah b. 1809 in Tennessee, d. ?, Martin b.ca.1810 d.ca.1836 in Tennessee, Mary b.1811 in Tennessee d.?, John Jr. b.1818-1820 in Tennessee, d. 1850's in Texas, Louisa b. 1821 in Tennessee d. 1872 in Tennessee. John Sr. had a brother named Josiah who married Isabella Abercrombe and raised his family in Georgia. They had another brother named Joel. John Jr. Blackwell married Elizabeth Catherine Mosley in Tennessee. They had six children: Martin P. 1839-1860, Jonathan M. 1840-?, William Henry b. 6-13-1844 d. 7-7-1911, Mary Catherine 1847-1927, Lewis Tilman b. 7-3-1849 d. 4-17-1926, Safronia Helen b. 8-30-1853 d. 5-18-1926. The first five children were born in Tennessee and the last child Helen was born near LaRue, Texas in Henderson County. Lewis Tilman and William Henry and Helen came to Oklahoma and Indian Territories. The brothers had a livery stable in Purcell/Lexington area. Lewis finally settled in Pontotoc county. He married Sarema Catherine Virginia (Kate) Loving. They had five children: Lucy John 1878-1943, Wesley Osile b.9-4-1882 d. 4-12-1926, Lee Henry b.3-29-1887 d. 12-23-1969, Mary 1890-?, Waldris James (Jim) 1893-?. All of the children were born in what is now Oklahoma. Lucy began school in Lexington. Bud married Nellie Jane McCalip 5-22-1905 in Stonewall, Indian Territory. They had eight children, five of whom lived to be adults. Willie Mae, their oldest was born 8-12-1908. Her siblings were: Thelma Elmare 1911-1997, Haskell Cleo 1914-1990, Wilburn Tilman 1919, Mildred Marie 1925. Willie Mae married Luther James Thompson 12-3-1930 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. They lived all of their married lives in Ada, Oklahoma. They had one child, JaNell Deane born 12-27-1946. JaNell had one child, Tonya Gayle, born 12-26-1972.
