Joseph Fleming who was born in Virginia in 1804 and his wife Priscilla who was born in Pennsylvania in 1806 lived in Wells Township, Jefferson County, Ohio on August 11, 1850 according to the census record. They had a daughter, Harriett born in Pennsylvania in 1827 and James 1830, Gilbert 1831, William 1834, Isaac 1836, John 1837, Henry 1840, Sarah 1843, Thomas Jefferson 1846, and Hannah 1848 who were all born in Ohio. Joseph was a farmer. His real estate was valued at $183.00. Before Thomas Jefferson Fleming reached adulthood his parents both died and he lived with an uncle. He ran away from the uncle's home and became a traveling salesman. He came to the home of Joseph C. Stump and eventually married his daughter Abigail in a double wedding with her sister Louisa. In the 1880 census records Thomas J.Fleming and Abigail Stump Fleming were married and living in Marion Township, Franklin County, Ohio. They had three children at that time: Nettie L. 5, Oscar 4, and Charles 2. Thomas was a farmer. By 1900, Thomas and Abigail had moved to Harrison Township in VanWert County, Ohio. Thomas was 54 and Abigail was 50 and they had seven children and a grandson living at home. Nettie L. was now 25, Alvira 19, Hattee 17, Russel S. 15, George B. 13, Joseph 10, and Clarence P. 5. The grandson was Orville Edward and he was 4 years old. Orville Edward was Nettie's son. In 1900 after the census was taken in Ohio, the entire family moved to Woodward County, Oklahoma where Thomas Jefferson homesteaded 120 acres. Slowly the family members began going back to Ohio. Finally just Thomas Jefferson, Abigail, Nettie, Joseph, Clarence Peter and Nettie's children were left in Oklahoma. Joseph married Pearl whose family lived next to the Fleming homestead and he remained in Oklahoma. Nettie's son Orville Edward Fleming stayed in Oklahoma working first for a family named Garrett. They were mean to him so he went to the home of William Kenneth Haskins of Anadarko and worked there being raised with some "foster sisters". He worked for one of the daughters and her husband in Amber (Ethel Stott). Later he married Daisy Mae Scott and they raised six children: Orville Edward Junior 1929, Jerry Don 1931, Nettie Virginia 1932, Paul Daniel 1933, Jimmy Floyd 1935, and William Kenneth 1937. Orville died at the young age of 46 in July 1942. Nettie had another son named Harold who was born when the family lived in Woodward. Harold married Edith Beatrice Michaels in Ohio. They were also blessed with six children: Emmra Darwin born 1925, Alva Harold 1926, Mary Alice 1928, Esther Ann 1930, Thomas James 1932, and Doris Ruth 1933. Orville Edward Fleming's oldest son, "Ed" had two children Lynna Gaye 1954 and David Edward 1955. Lynna had two children: Shawna 1974 and Crissy 1978. Crissy has two children: Christopher Edgar 1996 and Isabel Marie 1999.
