The family of JaNell Deane Thompson

JaNell Deane Thompson is the only child born to Willie Mae Blackwell Thompson and Luther James Thompson. She was born December 27, 1946 in Ada, Oklahoma. Luther James Thompson, her father was born October 8, 1908 in Roff, Oklahoma. Luther grew up in the Stonewall, Frisco area of Pontotoc County, Oklahoma. He was a city letter carrier and carried mail on Main Street, 12th, 13th, and 14th for over forty years in Ada, Oklahoma. He had nine siblings who were all born in Pontotoc County except his younger brother, Neal who was born in Moulton, Alabama. The siblings are as follows: Carl,b.Oct. 30, 1898, d. infancy, Silas,b.Oct.25, 1900, d. infancy, Sarah Francis b.Dec. 31, 1901, d. July 4, 1956, Sidney Lee b. Nov. 20, 1903, d. May 28, 1961, Clara Viola b. June 11, 1906, d. Feb. 24, 1988, Luther James, b. Oct. 8, 1908, d. June 17, 1995, Neal Jackson b. Nov. 2, 1911, d. Mar. 24, 1984, Johnnie Lois, b.Sept. 21, 1914, d. Oct. 11, 1997, Sampson, Sept. 4, 1917, stillborn, Lona b. Sept. 26, 1919, stillborn. Their parents were Dollie Jane Allford Thompson and John William Thompson. John William was the oldest of seven children. They are: John William b. Dec. 14, 1876 d. June 1, 1959, James Owen b. 1878 d. May 10, 1949, Docia b. Mar. 1880, Robert H. b. 1882, Emma b. 1885, Roy E. b. Aug. 8, 1886, Eva Lena, b. Dec.24, 1888, d. July 7, 1989. The first three were born in Lawrence County, Alabama and the last three were born in Texas. Nothing is known at this time about where Robert was born. The parents of these children were Caroline Ray Thompson and William "Bill" Thompson. They were both born in Alabama. They were married in Colbert County, Alabama on January 8, 1875. In 1900 the family lived in Lawrence County, Alabama at Wolf Springs township. William Thompson was the son of John Green Thompson and his wife Rebecca who were married in Franklin County, Alabama June 19, 1852. They had eight children: Robert b. 1853, William 1855, Sarah 1857, Nancy 1860, Anthony 1862, Fannie 1863, Sidney 1867, and James 1869. John Green and most of his children came to the Paris, Texas area around the early 1880's. At least two of John Green's siblings came to that same area, his brother Robert William and his sister Mary Thompson Hulsey. John Green's parents were Robert and Matilda Green Thompson. They were both born in Georgia and died in Colbert County, Alabama buried in Old Bethel Cemetery. They had twelve children: Anderson b. 1823, Robert William b. 1824, Mary b. 1826, Anthony 1828, Sarah 1830, John Green 1832, Matilda 1835, Palas Neely 1837, Terry 1839, William Isom 1840, Elizabeth Jane 1841, Caroline 1843. Robert was the son of Waddy Thompson and Mary Matlock Thompson. Waddy was born in Virginia about 1760. He moved to South Carolina where he met Mary. They were married about 1791 in Greenville County, South Carolina. They moved to Georgia where all of their children were born. Waddy followed his brother, Robert, to Franklin County, Alabama in about 1818 according to land records. It is known that Robert fought in the Revolutionary War because the family applied for his final pension payment for his burial. Waddy and Mary had ten children: Delishe 1795, John 1797, Robert 1798, Nancy 1800, Thiney 1801, Waddy Jr. 1803, David 1806, Susannah 1808, Nathaniel 1810, William 1816
