I got these poems from my daughter.
They were written by freshmen high school students.
The year 1981, I have shown the auther at the end of each,
also if someone sees their name and does not want their poem here
Please e-mail me and let me know and I will remove it

        MY WOMAN

        A woman is a goddess
        Peaceful, loving and enchanted
        Flying high above the sky
graceful as a butterfly. her and the sky
        watching the soft clouds go
        floating by.
        Through the clear blue sky.
Best of all she is free and
        is loving with me.

        Pressuring,pressuring she can be
She's a special person to see
        So beautiful, so graceful, but
        most of all
she's as peaceful as the deep blue sea.
Way down deep inside, we share.

I love her and she loves me
        we seem never to part
        Forever
        Just her and me
And the peaceful deep blue sea.

        A SOUTHERN DREAM

A southern dream is one to know
        For sure you'll really see,
It takes your mind and pulls it deep
        into a fantasy.

You stroll beneath the clear blue skies
        Through gardens everywhere
A cool breeze blows the fragrance from
        the flower in your hair.

A lady dressed in ballgown white
        passes by your way,
        Perhaps a beauty heaven sent
        To Southern life today

In the back a mansion stands
        Age has made it bleed,
But still it stands with dignity
        To shelter those in need

When evening brings the hot sun down
        Across the burnt orange sky
It,s one that makes your mind and soul
        Seem to magnify.

You pass an oak tree old and bent
        But dead it cannot be
For everything that's in the south
        Lives eternally.

        So ends your Southern paradise
The dreams you thought come true,
Though gone for now I'm sure there's more
        Deep inside of you

        BETWEEN THE LINES

Some days ago I got a letter
from a friend of many years
when I read the letter now
My eyes fill with troubled tears
She didn't complain of her way of life,
Of the luxuries she never had,
Or, how she alone had reared her family.
She never mentioned that her health was bad.

        She told so many pleansantries
That had happened in her home,
Recalled the things we used to do
        When we were very young.
        she said she would like to see me;
Could I come and make it soon?
Perhaps she'd have to leave the valley
Maybe be the first of June.
Now when I read her letter,
As plain as plain can be
        There etched between the lines
Are all the words I didn't see.
I hope she will forgive me.
And I pray so many times-
PLEASE,GOD, the next time I'm needed
Help me to read between the lines.

        DEATH OF A LOVED ONE

Death came in on a black horse
        And took my grandmother away,
Which caused me a lot of grief,
and pain of not seeig her in her in her
Rocking chair or hearing her voice
        as she called my name.
And the hurt of knowing she will
never come back. but mostly; because I
wanted her back just so she could say
        Good-bye. Before deathtook her away
for a long ride, which never stops.

But then I found out that the Pain's
permanant place was not in my heart
to stay . That it would leave when
        I let go.

        I ONCE DISCOVERED

        I once discovered something new;
I really didn't know what to do.
It was a friendship we could share
But we would have to love and care.
        We were like sisters from the start;
We loved each other deep in our hearts.
        She was always my very best friend;
Until the day it had to end.
She was packed; I didn't know why
She said she was moving; I started to cry.
I will never forget the friendship we had.
It's just too bad it ended so sad.
