ANCIENT EVENINGS
A Personal Journey

and

Family Genealogy

(ANCIENT EVENINGS - A Personal Journey) is intended to remind us of those invisible chords which so inextricably bind us to our past.

In order to understand just who we are we must first understand from whence we came.

(ANCIENT EVENINGS - A Personal Journey) will look into the past in an effort to understand the present, and ultimately, the future.

This page will look at and attempt to explore the Italian roots of the MITCHELL & CATONE family lineage relating to my paternal grandparents, James Mitchell and Mary Catone. We will also research the Austrian-Hungarian roots of the PENZER & FORECZ lineage as relates to my maternal grandparents, John Penzer and Esther Forecz. This is a personal journey which should have been made long ago.

DEDICATED TO THE PRESERVATION OF ALL THINGS OF HISTORICAL AND GENEALOGICAL VALUE

This site is being built and maintained by, James J. Mitchell ... who, as it so happens is "me" ... I am a full-time (Aviation Sciences/Professional Pilot) student at Oklahoma State University, and, am employed full-time as a tractor-trailer driver for a local distribution company here in Tulsa. My time is therefore somewhat limited, but my enthusiasm for the subject matter of this site keeps me motivated.

This site is currently under construction. I must apologize if it seems slightly disorganized or incomplete; this will change. As you visit over time you will see many changes, hopefully meaningful changes that will improve and enhance your visit. The primary reason for this sites existence is my passion for the subject matter and a driving desire to discover my own "roots" ... so, please bear with me as I hack and slash my way through the tangles of HTML coding in an effort to build something of value. Thanks. J. J. Mitchell.

This page and everything that can be made possible from within this page is dedicated to my very understanding and loving wife, Linda, and, to my parents, William Paul Mitchell (1901-1970), and Elsie Penzer (1916-1995), who are the reasons I am so passionate about this work.

World War I Photograph
"Skeletons for Love"

The above photograph is taken from a collection of WWI photographs which it is said "depicts a gentler view of the Great War" ... a lull in the fighting perhaps; the circumstances are not known for certain ... however, the image of the soldier in the lower left-hand corner is thought to be that of, William P. Mitchell ... the father of the author of this web page. If anyone visiting this site recognizes this photograph or might have some information about it please contact the site owner through the Guest Book below. Thank you.
