Buck's Fishing Report
Last Updated Oct 1, 1998
Where did the summer go? Although unseasonably
warm temps have slowed it's arrival, Autumn is upon us.
Fish have moved into pre turn-over feeding mode, with many
species moving up into the rivers. Fishing has been generally good,
and with surface temps in the 69 degree range, turnover is not yet in sight.
Many reservoir fish have shifted their attentions to the large "pelagic"
schools of bait fish suspending in the main basin. While these fish are unpredictable,
they feed ravinously when located. Jane and I had three evenings of thirty plus smalleys
( up to 18.5" ) as well as numerous walleyes (to 19") only to have the fish shut off on the
forth night.
Hunting season is in full swing. Grouse hunting has been good and deer
are everywhere.
Leaves are at about 30% turned and peak in this region should be around
October 10. Get outdoors and enjoy it.
