My Testimony

As a child, I was brought up in the Baptists churches. I never knew the true meaning of what a relationship with Jesus was all about. I lived the life of a care free Baptist from childhood to my 9th grade school year. I did not have a personal relationship with Jesus, I was like a person who did not know what the inside of a library looked like. If somebody would have needed salvation, I would have said, "I don't know what you are talking about, ask my mom." So by now, it should be clear that my life had little meaning. That's how it felt to me. There was only one thing that motivated me, that I lived for. That one thing was baseball! I've played baseball every year without missing a year of eligibility(until now because ASU does not have a b'ball program). Baseball was my life!!

Somehow, God intervened! It's weird how He does it sometimes, but none the less, He knows what He is doing. So after my parents divorced, my mom, my sister, my brother, and I moved to San Angelo. Here I "met" Jesus!! We ended up going to Tree of Life church before the beginning of my 9th grade year (possibly around the 8th grade to be more exact) and I'd never seen a church like it before. The first time we came to Tree, we were welcomed and "loved on" really good, something that rarely happened at my old Baptist church. They made us feel welcomed and like we belonged on just the first day. At the time, the church seemed a little strange since it was a Charismatic, non denominational "holy-roller" church, but I quickly got used to it. This church was not the kind that you would fall asleep in. It was exciting and never boring! The pastor's favorite saying was "It's Ok to have fun in church!" After about a year of attending this church, my mom was offered a position to be a teacher at the Christian school the church ran. She accepted the position (she was very qualified for it), and it provided my sisters and I the opportunity to go to the private Christian school for free. However, my mom gave me the choice. I could either continue pursuing my education at Lee Junior High or go to this private school. It was not any easy decision for me. I was expected to be a starter for the football team and I was really looking forward to that (since I'm a sports fanatic). Also, the issue arose that I would be losing a lot of friends. That was not the case however. The decision to go to this private school probably saved my life. I was not going down the right roads before then.

At the Christian school (a.k.a. ANGELO CHRISTIAN SCHOOL), I learned how to walk with Jesus. Eventually, I was told that, we as believers, could pray for anything in the Father's name and He would do it, being the loving Father that He was. So I decided to pray that God would let me play baseball in the Majors. Of course this had been my dream ever since I was a kid. Now I was told that I could pray for it. How exciting to know that God wants to give us the desires of our heart (Ps.37:4)! During the spring break of my 9th grade year, I received an answer to my prayer request. It was during a mission trip to Saltillo, Mexico that God gave me "life" (or inspiration to continue living). It was a week long trip away from all American civilization (TVs), 8 hours into Mexico. The last full day of that trip, the directors brought in a native Saltillo Pastor, named Juan, to prophesy over every youth who attended this trip. When my turn finally came, the first words out of the pastor's mouth (which happened to be in Spanish, we had a translator, his name was Pastor Darrel Eaton) were that I would be on a great team, a sports team. I would win many through sports and that "we" are going with you as a team. Currently, I'm looking for one of those team members (referring to my Spirit-Filled, devil castin', faith speakin', "FIREBALL" wife, which I have not found yet!!!!*where are you??*) Well, ever since I received this answer to my prayer request, I've been livin'on a DURALAST Spark Plug that God placed inside of me that He loves to recharge frequently!!!

Now I'm a Fr. in college and I'm still letting me light shine in all the ways God has provided. There may seem to be a large gap between my 9th grade year and my Fr. year, but don't be worried. Everything that has happened in that small time period is nowhere near as significant as what occurred in my ninth grade year.

Well, thanks for reading my testimony!!!! I hope it strengthened your faith and forgive me, but I'm not great with words!!!

My favorite scripture- Ps.37:4
What's yours??????
