Quick    and    Easy    Newborn    Sweater.

4mm (US size 6) needles.
Approx. 75gms of Baby Double Knitting wool.
Cast on 50 stitches and K1, P1 (rib) for 6 rows.
Change to garter stitch (knit every row) until work 
measures 5 inches ending
with a wrong side row.
Cast on 36 stitches at beginning of next row.
Knit to end.
Cast on 36 stitches at beginning of next row.
Knit to end.
Continue in garter stitch until work measures
 3 1/2 inches from sleeve cast on edge.
Next row:  Knit 41 sts, rib 40 sts, knit 41 sts.
Repeat this row.
  
Next row: Knit 41 sts, then cast off the 
40 sts in rib. Knit 41.
Next row:  Knit 41 sts to edge of 
cast off edge.  
Break yarn and re-join at other side of cast off edge.  
Cast on 40 sts. Rib 40 sts, knit 41 sts.
Next row: Knit 41 sts, rib 40 sts. 
knit 41 sts.
Next row: Knit
Repeat this last row until work measures 
3 1/2 inches from end of rib neck band.
Next row: Cast off 36 stitches, knit 50 sts,
cast off 36 stitches.
Fasten off yarn and re-join to remaining 
50 stitches on needle.
Continue knitting every row to match front, 
ending with 6 rows of rib. 
(5 inches in total from sleeves cast off)
Cast off
Secure rib band at side of neck.
Join side and sleeve seams.
