This page will
basically explaining the story of my life and how i got into
Djing and producing my own music.
I am 23 years
old and i was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
I attended
english school all of my young life.
My roots are
of Italian dissent.
I was brought
up to respect others as i respect myself and i am very proud of that.
From the day
i made my first friend until now, i always had multi cultured friends
whitch i believe
made me very lucky, because i learned other peoples culture and way of
life "and also taste there great many different foods".
It also made
me relize that wether you are black, white, red, yellow or pokka dot
we are all
the same people inside and out.
I was about
10 yrs old when a couple of my friends introduced me to hip hop,
groups like
grand master flash, the fat boys, run dmc,ll cool j, scholly d and many
others of the time.
Even though
i was only 10 the music sound very appealing tome.
It's lively
style and poetic harmony caught my attention,
but what really
got my mind spinning was how the dj made those wicked sounds with those
records and turntables i thought that they were pretending to make those
sounds via computer.
Little did
i know "it was really them".
I continued
to listen to hip hop until the age of 16. By chance my dad was working
in a restaurant called Le new Orleans which was a place where you can eat
cajun food and enjoy a live jazz band show and later on dance to modern
music. My dad had spooken to the dj about me telling him that i was always
in my room messing around with music tapes. dad had also asked if he would
show me the ropes and know how of Djing. The dj which to this is my blood
brother agreed. So the following weekend he invited me to the restaurant
and greeted me with open arms. when i walked into the both i thought i
was in heaven, Because of all the equipment that was there. i began to
talk to the dj
"oh ya his
name is Poncho" and we quickly became friends. That night i had heard music
that i again haven't heard before.
I had asked
Poncho what it was called and he told me "it's called house music"
-just to let
you know it was my favorite house track ever by Frankie Knuckles-
and the song
was called "The whistle".
When i heard
it i got goose bumps all over my body and a sick feeling in my stomach
"no it wasn't
the booze".
some how i
knew that i had fallin in love with it.
this might
sound weird but it's very true, the whistle was like an awakening to me.
With time poncho
showed me how the equipment worked first.
then he started
teaching the bpm count, which is beats per minute,
and how to
mix "well the basics of mixing".
5 months had
past and poncho had got an offer from another club and told me like his
brother once told him "Joe do you feel ready to do this on your own",
with eyes that
said "no" my heart and mouth said "yes".
at the time
i barely knew how to mix. but i found out that it was the best and smartest
idea to learn on hand what i needed to know.
So that's how
i basically got into djing and 7 yrs after i am still playing in clubs
and events.
but about 2
and half years ago i started to think that maybe i needed to take the next
step and start makin my own house music. i saved up my cash and bought
myself some equipment.
although i
don't have a track out on the market im still makin music at home and testing
it on crowds.
and needless
to say some tracks work others don't.
i'm working
on 2 tracks right now that have lots of potential, and i hope to release
them soon, by the summer the latest.
