SHIRLEY   TEMPLE!!!


Shirley Temple was born on April 23, 1928 in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, California. At age three Shirley Temple began taking dancing lessons. In 1932 she appeared in a series of one-reel films in which she imitated leading ladies in parodies of popular films. In 1934 she attracted attention in a song-and-dance number she performed in Stand Up and Cheer which led to a screen contract for child lead roles, and within months she was a star. At the end of her first year as a star, she received a special Academy Award for her performances throughout 1934. by 1938 she was the top box-office attraction and a whole industry had developed around her: Shirley Temple dolls, coloring books, clothes, etc. However, as she got older her popularity declined. She retired from the screen at age 21. In 1968, she was appointed as a U.S. representative to the United Nations. From 1974-76 she was U.S. ambassador to Ghana, then became U.S. Chief of protocol. In 1989 she became ambassador to Czechoslovakia. She was married from 1945-49 to actor John Agar and in 1960 she married TV executive Charles Black and has been known as Shirley Temple Black ever since.
