MARILYN   MONROE!!!

Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Baker on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. Her mother was a film cutter at RKO who, widowed and insane, abandoned her to a sequence of foster homes. She was almost smothered to death at 2, and nearly raped at 6. At nine the LA Orphans' Home paid her a nickel a month for kitchen work while taking back a penny every sunday for church. At sicteen she worked in an aircraft plant and married a man she called Daddy; he went into the military, she modeled, and they divorced in 1946. She owned 200 books, listened to Beethoven records, studied acting at teh Actors' lab in Hollywood, and took literature courses at UCLA. 20th Century Fox gave her a contract but let it expire a year later. In 1948, Columbia gave her a six-month contract, and featured her in a B movie called "Ladies of the Chorus." Joseph Mankiewicz saw her in a small part in The Asphalt Jungle and put her in All About Eve, so 20th Century Fox re-signed her to a seven-year contract. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes launched her as a sex symbol superstar. In 1955, after making The Seven Year Itch, she married and divorced baseball great Joe Dimaggio. She wanted serious acting to replace the sexpot image and went to New York's Actor's Studio. Critics praised her transformation in Bus Stop and the press was stunned by her marriage to playwright Arther Miller. They went to England that fall where she made The Prince and the Showgirl with Lawrence Olivier, fighting with him and falling further prey to alcohol and pills. Work on her last picture The Misfits, was interrupted by exhaustion. She was dropped from Something's Got to Give due to chronic lateness and drug dependancy. four months later she was found dead in her Brentwood home of a drug overdose. She died on August 5, 1926 and she is still considered one of the most beautiful women and best actresses in Hollywood. Here are five of Marilyn Monroe's most famous films: All About Eve (1950), Niagara (1953), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), and The Seven Year Itch (1955).
