My slightly updated site, which can be considered to be like me in the way it changes very infrequently and seldom by much. The nominal changes are a few more reviews, corrected a few mistakes, re-wrote most of the about me part, and this bit here...
Like I say not much really.
Sometimes I get really pissed off with people places things, and once in a while I write them down, usually badly, this kind of placates me, but not by much, so I decided I might as well bung them up here, safe in the knowledge that no-one will read them (as when it was simply on my computer) but could given the inclination (which they also technically could if it were only on my computer, but fortunately not many people would go to the lengths of breaking and entering simply to read some ramblings...)
Anyway, I put my first one here now (written mid January this year, in one go, only corrections are spelling and grammar), it's as you may expect waffling and leads no-where really, but I try to write as I am, hence I succeeded...
To say 'men and women don't understand each other' clouds a quite obvious state of affairs. The inclusion of a pair of excessive words makes the whole phrase more complicated than needs be, for simply, and more accurately, 'men and women don't understand.' Contained within that single statement is the whole of humanity, it sums up the state of affair a millenia, a century, a decade, a year, a day, an hour, a minute, a second ago. Presumably one could, seemingly, extrapolate from todays society, and the previous statement, that for every time interval in the future the same will be said. I for one will not argue with that. You see it seems to me that in today's world there is a lack of foresight, people see things for the now, they live for the moment, no matter how mundane and tedious that momemt is. Maybe you could argue that this is a good thing, and yet to say that obviously implies that we are heading nowhere, to aim to the end of the moment shows no realisation of the inevitability of time. Is society really going to continue on this ceaseless path to nowhere.Look at science, for many years it has been wrong on so many things, the earth is not the centre of the universe, the sun is not the centre, there are not four elements, electricity is not magic, magnetism is not some form of sacred power; science has always over come the fallacies, seen errors overwriten them and gone on. The reason, simply it has a goal, a complete understanding of the world. Similarly society should seek out it's ideal solution, that of a perfect world, where every man women and child can live in peace and happiness, where food is given to those who need it and medicine is granted to all, not just the ones who can afford it. You say society is aiming for this, and yet I see no target. I do not propose a five year plan, or anything else so foolish, for perfection takes time, beauty requires maturing. When you look at your children you should see the future, and you should plan for it, but not just for their future, but for, their children's future, and their's. We should not be thinking in units of politcal office, we should instead be thinking in terms of generations, of even centuries, though I hopefully see such an event possible before every child born todays death.
As you can tell I was in a slightly melancholic mood when I wrote that, but the sentiment is true enough, even if the wording, at times, is poor (a millenia, a century... a second... oh dear)
Anyway, if you do spot any non-links, mistakes or general gaffes on the rest of the pages please tell me
Feel free to have a go at a little thing I same up with, a links game, just to waste a couple of minutes.
Anyway, choose somewhere to go....
Books - a selection of reviews, comments, criticisms and recommendations as well as a section of links to sites of various authors, or, more likely, their fans. |
|
Music - a similar variety of comments and reviews with numerous links to my personal favourites. |
|

|
About Me (and my friends) - a brief paragraph about me, some stuff about my friends, links to there sites, true stories that are humorous, or at least close to humorous. |

You can sign my guestbook if you like.
Apparently, since, er... what's the date today?... oh thanks... since 3rd May 1998, there have been a whopping great number of people who have visited my site (sarcasm) and that number exists in the set of positive integers (not necessarily discounting zero), but to be more precise, it's... (and I don't know if it's working properly yet... so just go with it...)
