Pelagia (Polly) Elizabeth Killian, daughter of Peter Jacob Killian and Barbara Mary Lisowski. was born 17 Dec 1897, in North Creek, Trempealeau Co., Wisconsin, and she died in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on 28 Jan 1984. Polly married on 16 Jan 1916, in Weyburn to Alvin George McGugan who was born 7 Aug 1896, in Ontario, Canada, and who died 21 Jul 1968, in Weyburn. Both are buried in Memorial Acres Cemetery, Colgate, Saskatchewan. Seven children were born to this couple, namely:
1-Donald Edward McGugan, born 28 Aug 1918, in Colgate, Saskatchewan, and died 11 Aug 1976, in Leduc, Alberta, Canada. He married Emily Marie Fladeland, who was born 16 Oct 1920, in Gladmar, Saskatchewan, and who died 2004 in Leduc. It is confirmed that Donald is buried in Leduc Public Cemetery, but Emily's burial place is not yet confirmed. According to family information, Donald was injured on April 7, 1932, in a gopher-hunting accident, and a bullet was lodged in his spine up until his death. Donald is listed in Find a Grave but Emily appears not to be. However, the following confirms her death - Obituary Daily Times Index, 1995. 2-Mary McGugan, born 22 Oct 1919, in Colgate. No further information known at this time, other than she moved to British Columbia, Canada.
3-Lloyd Gerald McGugan, born 18 Sep 1920, in Colgate, and died 2 Feb 2000, in Regina, Saskatchewan. Lloyd marriedMabel Marion Friedrich, who was born in Saskatchewan and who died 25 Sep 2012, in Regina. Both are buried in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Regina. According to her obituary, Mabel passed away peacefully with family by her side at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Ida Friedrich; husband Lloyd McGugan; brothers and sisters Raymond, Dalbert, Elmer, Ronald, Irene, Viola and Livine.
4-Thelma Pelagia McGugan, born 27 Aug 1921, in Colgate, and
died 2001 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She married Andrew
Dalgarno Justuson, in Moose Jaw in 1948, who was born 2 Nov 1925, in
Saskatchewan, and who died 3 Sep 2009, in Moose Jaw. According to his obituary,
Andrew was born and raised in Saskatchewan to James Buck and Christine Justason
on. He married Thelma McGugan and the couple raised their 13 children in Moose
Jaw. He Passed away peacefully on September 3rd, 2009, in Moose Jaw, at the age
of 83, predeceased by his beloved wife Thelma (2001). Andrew and Thelma
are buried in Sunset Cemetery, Moose Jaw.
5-Norman Oscar Roy McGugan, was born 10 Apr 1924, in Colgate,
and he died on 22 Apr 1991, in Weyburn. He married in Weyburn on 1 Oct 1950, to Irma
Amla Gueldner, who was born 12 Jan 1928, inj Weyburn, where she died 4
Feb 2014. According to her obituary, Irma's parents, Emmanuel and Emma
Gueldner, immigrated from Russia in 1924. Irma was born in Weyburn on January
12, 1928, one of six children. The family farmed east of Weyburn. She was
predeceased by her husband, Norman McGugan, two brothers, Henry (Kay) and
Herbert Gueldner and brother-in-law, Harold Flaaten. On October 1, 1950, Irma
married Norman McGugan of Colgate, and they farmed in the Weyburn and Colgate
areas. Both are buried in Green Acres Memorial Garden, Weyburn.
6-Lorraine McGugan, was born 11 Jul 1932, in Colgate. No further information other than she moved to Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.
7-Garth Bruce McGugan, born 24 Apr 1935, in Colgate, died 31 Jan 2013, in Weyburn. Garth is buried in Colgate Cemetery. Garth married and had a family but nothing is known to date.
