While surfing the Net on my never-ending quest for family ties, I lucked across two interesting articles that have a direct bearing on our own Snodgrass family. One is the Last Will And Testament of Elisha Jolly, the other the Michael Ely family of Pennsylvania -their connections to our own kindred are made apparent in the following features.
Before viewing the Ely (Ealy) families I must give a brief description of the connection that our own Snodgrass family has to both the Jollys and the Elys.
One child of Elisha Jolly was Anna Jolly, b.Nov.30, 1795, d.Feb.12, 1881, m.Martin Ely, s/o Michael Ely and Mary Regina Kissner. Martin was b.Nov.25, 1791, d.Dec.13, 1871, in Buffalo Twp., and m.1811 to Ann(a) Jolly, d/o Elisha Jolly, the subject of the aforementioned will.
One child of Martin and Anna was Elisha Ely, b.Apr. 17, 1815, d.Aug.24, 1905. Elisha Ely m.first Oct.2, 1838, to Mary Clark, and m.second in 1843 to Keziah Snodgrass, d/o our ancestor William Snodgrass of Canton Township:
